Message from Principal Schumacher
Dear Hough Families,
February is off to a wonderful start, and it has been so great to see our community come together! I am looking forward to all of the FUN at the Hough PTO fundraiser tonight and spending time with our parent community as we celebrate 80's style!
This month, our Character Strong focus is honesty. Across classrooms, students are learning that honesty means being truthful, taking responsibility for our actions, and building trust with one another. These conversations help students strengthen relationships and feel confident being their true selves—important skills both in and out of school.
It was truly a joy to see so many of you at the Snowball Dance! The smiles, laughter, and all the dancing made for a memorable evening. It was wonderful to spend that time together as a school community on a cold, winter night in February. I'm now looking forward to the Valentine’s Day parties so we can celebrate friendship and connections within our classrooms.
As we head toward the upcoming long holiday weekend, I hope this extra time offers your family a chance to rest, recharge, and connect. Whether it’s eating heart-shaped pizza, watching movies, or playing board games, we wish you meaningful moments with those you love.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. February may be a short month, but it is filled with learning, celebration, and heart at Hough.

Valentine’s Day Classroom Parties Are Almost Here!
Get ready for love, laughter, crafts, treats, and BIG smiles! On Wednesday, February 11 from 1:20-2:05pm, our classrooms will be buzzing with Valentine’s Day fun as students celebrate together.
These parties wouldn’t be possible without our amazing families and staff—thank you for helping make the magic happen!
If you haven’t had a chance to volunteer yet this year and would like to jump in, please reach out to your Room Parent Leads or the PTO about additional volunteer opportunities later in the year, including Field Day, Art Fair, Mini Marathon, and the Book Fair. We’d love to have you be part of the fun at Hough!

February Athletes of the Month
HUGE congratulations to the following students on being named the Athletes of the Month! Their pictures will be posted on the bulletin board outside of the gym, stop by to see them all month long. These students have exemplified outstanding performance in PE, have demonstrated great sportsmanship, and give maximum effort every day.

Inaugural Hough Multi-Cultural Night
Join us for a vibrant and exciting Multi-Cultural Night on February 19th, 2026! This special event celebrates the diversity of our school community and provides a wonderful opportunity for families to share their unique cultures and traditions. We invite families to participate by signing up to bring a dish, showcase a tradition, perform a dance, introduce a game that reflects their heritage, or any activity that you would like to share with the Hough family.
This is a fantastic way to explore the rich tapestry of cultures represented in our school and to foster understanding and appreciation among students and families. Whether it's a favorite recipe, a traditional costume, a cultural dance, a fun game from your country, or just coming to explore and experience other cultures, we encourage everyone to contribute!
