Lake Forest Families,

Looking ahead, district benchmark testing continues this week!
On Tuesday, October 20, all 2nd–5th graders will take the Math benchmark, followed by the 4th grade Science benchmark on Wednesday, October 22. These assessments help teachers monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed.

Please take a moment to encourage your child to do their best, take their time, and show their work. A good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast go a long way in helping students feel confident and focused on testing days. 💙

We’re also looking forward to our next Club Day on Friday, October 24, from 1:00–1:45 p.m. Please refrain from scheduling early dismissals during this time so students can fully participate in this fun and engaging part of our school day!

Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s success. When students are absent, late, or checked out early, they miss valuable instruction, classroom discussions, and learning experiences that cannot be easily replaced. Even a few minutes missed each day can add up to hours of lost learning time over the course of a school year.

We understand that appointments and family matters sometimes can’t be avoided. However, we kindly ask that families make every effort to have students at school on time each day and avoid early dismissals whenever possible.

Your partnership helps ensure your child—and every student at Lake Forest—has the best opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed! 💙

It’s time to think about PTA Reflections!

The 2025–2026 theme is “I Belong!”

Students may submit entries in any (or all!) of these categories: Dance Choreography, Music Composition, Literature, Visual Arts, Film Production, and Photography.

All Lake Forest participants will be recognized during an award ceremony on the morning news show this spring! Winning entries may also advance to the district, state, or even national levels.

📄 Entry forms were recently sent home in student folders. Additional copies can be found in the LFE Media Center.

🗓️ Entries are due by December 19, but submissions are welcome anytime before the deadline. Entries can be submitted online or in the LFE Media Center.

Book Fair opt-in forms were sent home with all students last week! Please note that students must return a signed form in order to attend the Book Fair, which will be held November 7–13.

We’re sending the forms home early so families have plenty of time to complete and return them. If your child misplaces their form, don’t worry—just let your teacher know, and we’ll make sure a new one is sent home.

🌟 Red Ribbon Week is October 27–31! 🌟
We’re excited to celebrate making healthy choices during Red Ribbon Week! Each day has a fun theme to help us show our commitment to being drug free: wear red, neon, mix-and-match outfits, spirit wear, and end the week with a Halloween shirt. Let’s all join together to say “LFE is Drug Free!”
