π’ Health Room Policies - Important Reminders
Dear Families,
Please take a moment to review these important health room policies and guidelines to help us keep our school community healthy and safe:
π‘οΈ Fever & Illness Guidelines
24-Hour Rule: If your student is sent home with a fever, please do not send them back to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Prompt Pick-Up: If you receive a call to pick up your sick child, please arrive within 1 hour of the call. If you are unable to come within this timeframe, please arrange for a designated contact to pick them up. We appreciate your cooperation in planning ahead for this possibility!
π Discretionary Medications (Middle & High School)
AACPS sent discretionary forms via text and email allowing middle and high school students to receive Tylenol in the health room with parental consent.
Attached to this email is a copy of the form if you would like to keep one on file for your student.
π· Mask Policy
Masks are not provided by the health room for daily use. If your child is feeling unwell, please send them to school with a mask.
Exception: If a student comes to the health room presenting with a fever, we will provide a temporary mask for them to wear while awaiting pick-up.
π Student Medications & Cough Drops
No Self-Carrying: Students are not permitted to carry any medications unless they have official medical authorization from a doctor.
Cough Drop Rules: Only non-medicated drops (e.g., non-menthol drops or Luden's pectin drops) are permitted. All other medicated cough drops require a signed doctorβs order.
π Physical Restrictions & Injuries
If your student sustains an injury that requires physical restrictions during the school day, please submit a formal doctor's note.
Please ensure the note details the specific restrictions and the expected timeframe.
π Thank you so much for your ongoing cooperation and support!
Warmly,
Nurse Patty & HA Nichole
