Greetings Coyote Families!

I hope you and your family had a restful spring break! Our return brings us to our last 9 weeks of the school year! This is a busy time of year as we have state testing for our 3rd-5th graders and NWEA testing for everyone. It is a great time to focus in on students' academic goals and to finish the year strong. Encourage your child to come to school every day and to work hard so that we can see a burst of growth as we finish the year.

With M-Step testing starting this week for our 5th graders, and next week for everyone else, I am in need of volunteers to come out this afternoon to help us decorate. Our theme is Reach for the Stars! I have purchased space themed decorations to help get the students excited and motivated for their testing. I sent out a sign up genius before spring break, but we definitely could use more help. If you are available at 2pm today, we would love to have you join us!

Positivity Project

Dear Families,

Next week, our school will focus on the character strength of Perspective. This means understanding and appreciating different points of view. Perspective, often seen as wisdom, goes beyond intelligence. People with this strength are valued for their advice because they see the big picture and understand complex issues.

Those with perspective can get to the heart of difficult matters and bring clarity. They are honest, ethical, and good at seeing what truly matters. This helps them stay calm and learn from mistakes. By reflecting on their own feelings and thoughts, they can empathize with others and offer strong listening and questioning skills. They help their groups navigate challenges and find opportunities for success.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

M-Step Testing

Starting on April 8, students in grades 3-5 will begin M-Step testing. 3-5th grade students will be testing in English/Language Arts and Math. 5th grade students will also be testing in science and social studies. It is very important for our students to take these tests. Unless it is completely unavoidable, please make every effort to have students here on testing days. A complete schedule is posted below. We will begin testing at approximately 9:15 on testing days, and testing will last through about 11:30, or until the class finishes. There are 2 testing days for ELA and Math tests as these are a bit longer, and we want to be able to break up the testing into smaller chunks. We want to avoid calling students out of class on testing days until testing has concluded.

Thank you for your help and cooperation as we provide the best testing experience and environment for our students.

iPad Collection

We will once again be collecting iPads from all of our students. This year, we will have work to have them all collected by May 4th. This will allow us to have the iPads here in the building for NWEA testing when all of our students test. Please be sure that you are able to locate both the apple charging block and charging cable as those will also need to be returned. As the time gets closer, I will share a specific plan for our collection process, but wanted to give you a heads up that they will be collected a little earlier this year than last year. Some teachers may also ask to have them sent in sooner for M-Step testing, but that will be on a teacher to teacher basis.

Parent Survey

Every year we strive to be better. Please take a few minutes to respond to the parent survey found in the link below:
