ELA (Mrs.Bouchard and Mrs.Pelletier)

As we wrap up another fantastic year in ELA, students recently completed our class study of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. To celebrate, students had the opportunity to watch the film adaptation and compare the two different media formats, analyzing similarities, differences, and the strengths of each genre.

Students also participated in a creative advertising contest in which they designed imaginative and informative ads for one of the many businesses found in Diagon Alley. The top award winners — voted on anonymously by the other seventh grade team — received gift bags filled with goodies for their outstanding work and creativity.

Winners:

Bella Pinkham, Lucrecia Antonio, Sophia Hatt, Maisie Giddings, Athena Flowers, and Quincy Jarvis.

Honorable Mentions:

Chelsy, Regina, Aurora, Kay, Yazen, Bree, Anjelina, Frankie

Overall, it has been a wonderful year of learning in ELA. Students learned more than 156 SAT vocabulary words, completed Level One in GrammarFlip, and most importantly, continued developing their abilities to write thoughtfully, think critically, and express themselves with confidence. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished this year!

Science (Ms.Wurth and Mrs.Goodson)

We are working through our final unit on the history of Earth and Life. Students have been referencing our early units about cells and genetics to understand how our first life originated on Earth! During this unit, we will be looking at fossils, cladograms and having some fun with final projects!

Math (Mr.Petit and Mr.Cote)

We have just finished Unit 7: Proportions. This was our final formal unit of the year and we will be ending the year working on percent problems. For Unit 8: Percents, we will cover how to find percent of a number, as well as how to calculate percent change, markups and discounts. Our final summative assessment of the year will be a project where your child will be challenged to spend $1,000,000. We will be working on this project from now until the end of the year.

Social Studies (Mr.Arsenault and Mr.Tellier)

7th grade social studies is finally working on their final projects. Students are selecting a historical figure from an era that we studied this year and will become an "expert" on that person. They will be doing extensive research and presenting this in front of their peers at the end of the year.

STEM (Mr.Long)

In Engineering class we've been experimenting with Magnetic Levitation Vehicles. Students constructed vehicles with electric motors. We collected data on speed using laser timers and tried to make conclusions about the best design features to maximize velocity. Many design groups were able to create Maglevs that travelled down a 7 foot track in less than 1 second! It was an intense competition for 1st place, but on the last day of testing Skye, Ronan, and Luke took the prize with a time of .782 seconds!

End of the Year Activities End of the Year Activities

As we quickly approach the end of the school year, we want to make sure everyone is aware of the exciting upcoming events for Team Acadia and Team Baxter!

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, students will enjoy a three-hour cruise aboard Casco Bay Lines. The trip will feature a DJ playing music for students to dance and celebrate, and we would greatly appreciate donations of snacks and drinks to help keep everyone energized during their adventure on the water. In addition, students will walk to Mayfield Park for a fun-filled Field Day on Friday, June 12, 2026, if the weather looks good. If the weather is predicted to be bad on Friday, we will be going on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Kids will need to bring sunscreen, water bottles, and sports supplies.

Finally, on June 17 from 10:00–11:00 AM, we will hold our end-of-the-year awards ceremony to celebrate our students’ accomplishments alongside their families. Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy a barbecue together.

We are looking forward to celebrating the end of a wonderful year with all of our students and families!
