CoyoteConnectionWeekly News at Reidy Creek Elementary School 11/7/2025

Dear Families,

We had another wonderful week at school as we kicked off the month of November! As many of your children have probably shared, our field is finally complete and open for play. There was a noticeable buzz of excitement during lunch and recess as students enjoyed the extra space to run, play tag, and start up games of kickball. We also received two new soccer goals, and they were put to good use right away!

This week, we celebrated our first Scholastic Book Fair of the year, and it was a huge success. Students loved visiting the fair to explore new titles, share recommendations with friends, and build their home libraries. The excitement around books and reading could be felt all week long, and it was great to see so many families stop by during our after-school events to join in on the fun.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible parent volunteers who gave their time to help set up, run the fair, and guide students as they made their selections. A special thank you to Stephanie Valenzuela and our SLT, Annie Parker, for all of their help before, during, and after the event. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made the week such a positive experience for everyone, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

This morning, we also got to celebrate a very special group of students during our morning assembly. The First Lego League Reidy Blockstars competed at their qualifying tournament last weekend in Poway. Besides working on coding to complete missions at the competition, they also worked hard on their innovation project, finding a solution to problems archaeologists face. The team showed Core Values this season by working as a team, being inclusive, innovative, and having fun. We are very proud of them and their hard work this season!

As a reminder, there is no school on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we'll see you on Monday!

Parent Expectations on Campus Parent Expectations on Campus

We love having our family volunteers on campus. Whether you're helping out in a classroom, leading a FAVE lesson, or participating in a school-wide activity, we enjoy partnering with all of you in your child's education. If you are visiting our school campus, we do ask that you keep the following expectations in mind:

  • Check in and out at the office: All visitors must sign in at the front office before entering campus and sign out when leaving.

  • Wear a visible Visitor’s Pass: Please make sure your pass is clearly displayed at all times while on campus.

  • Stay on the sidewalks: We work hard to train our students to only use the sidewalk when traveling around campus, and we would appreciate if all families follow that same guideline.

  • Close gates behind you: For student safety, please make sure all gates are securely closed after entering or exiting. The gate by the library does not close on its own.

  • Use the office restroom: All visitors should use the restroom located in the front office.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and positive environment for all students!

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

To help keep our arrival and dismissal times running safely and smoothly, please remember the following procedures:

  • Pull all the way forward in the loop when dropping off or picking up, especially if your child needs a little extra time to get in or out of the car. This helps keep the flow of traffic moving for everyone.
  • Display your limo sign clearly in your car window. While many of our staff have come to recognize your vehicles, it can slow things down when we can’t easily see which student to call.
  • TK/K families: If you’re picking up at the gate, please wait in a single-file line along the fence so that other classes and grade levels can exit safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make arrival and dismissal as smooth and safe as possible for all students.

Attendance and Tardies Attendance and Tardies

As we move into the busy holiday season, we know families may have travel plans or special events coming up. Please remember that every school day counts. Consistent attendance helps your child stay on track academically and socially. Even missing just one day can make it harder for students to keep up with their learning.

Over the past two years, our average daily attendance has dropped significantly during November and December. Please help us meet our school wide goal of 95% attendance by making school a priority every day over the next two months.

If your child will be absent for an excused reason, please notify the office right away so we can document it appropriately.

Canned Food Drive Canned Food Drive

Please join us in supporting our local EUSD community through Project Success! Reidy Creek will be hosting a Canned Food Drive from November 17–21. We’re hoping to collect non-expired canned goods to help families in need this season.

Donations can be dropped off in the bus loop, in front of the library, or in the front office. Thank you for your generosity and support!

Parent Enabling Conditions Survey Parent Enabling Conditions Survey

We invite you to take a few moments to complete the Enabling Conditions Survey, a valuable opportunity to help shape the future of our school community.

Your feedback provides essential data on key aspects of our learning environment. This information allows us to analyze strengths and areas for growth, develop a focused action plan, and track how well that plan supports student success over time. The survey offers side-by-side data comparisons that give us a clear picture of what’s working and where we can improve.

The survey will close on Monday. Here is the survey link.
