Preschool
First Friends 1, have been having fun with apple stories, songs, games, and testing apples in the bucket balance! We’re enjoying centers and fun activities with our teachers.
Kindergarten
Ms. Lawler’s class is loving Forest Fridays! Each Friday, we spend some time in the woods behind the school, exploring, building, and connecting with the natural world. Last week, each student made a letter out of natural materials they found on the forest floor. We built many forts and one student, even made a home for a red-backed salamander he found!
Ms. Dibble’s class has been having so much fun learning how to write and count numbers to 10. This week, we learned the number 10 and celebrated by making bracelets with 5 of one color and 5 of another! We have also been learning how to play cooperatively with one another. We even had a group of friends make a zoo with toys! How creative!
Grade one
Mrs. DiFolco’s class has been learning about individual goals that students can choose to focus on in their own goal journal. At the end of every week students fill out their own rubric to chart their growth. Way to go first graders!
Mrs. Sullivan's class practiced our blending of words using shaving cream to help us remember!
Grade 2
Second graders have continued to work hard in math, literacy, and reading! During their time working with the Cornucopia Project, they have been harvesting and cleaning up the garden as the cold weather comes! This week we made pesto using basil, kale, and garlic from the garden! On Tuesday, October 17th, we will be celebrating our last day working in the garden by eating garden soup, clearing out the garden, and planting garlic to prepare to pass the torch to the 1st graders! Very exciting!
Grade 4
Fourth graders have worked hard this week solving multi-step word problems. Students worked hard drawing pictures to help them make sense of the problem before solving. We know that multi-step word problems will require more than one equation and lots of grit!
