Member Spotlight

This month’s member spotlight is Stefanie Basford. She is currently teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at Glenbrook North High School. This is her 17th year teaching at GBN, and this year her schedule includes Fashion Studio (construction), Fashion & Interior Design, and Child Development classes. Stefanie is also the Junior Class Board & Lookbook (GBN’s Fashion Magazine) Sponsor. The Lookbook Fashion Magazine allows students to showcase their passion for fashion in so many different ways, and is only in its 3rd year with a membership of over 100!

Stefanie has served on the ILAFCS Board since 2020 and is currently the Secretary. She loves being part of the ILAFCS Board to get to know other FCS professionals as well as learn new ideas from everyone she works with! It has been one of the most rewarding experiences for her professional development.

Outside of work, Stefanie loves hanging out with her husband and 3 kiddos! She spends most of her weekends at the kids' sports events cheering them on…but when there is free time, she enjoys cross-stitching, sewing, watching Hallmark movies and reading!

Stefanie loves teaching FCS and is so lucky to get to share what she loves to do with each of her high schoolers!
