Hello LPOSD Families,

A huge thank you to all the parents who attended student-led conferences and watched your son/daughter(s) share their accomplishments, areas for growth, and what they most enjoy at school. I witnessed the beauty of students taking ownership of their learning by explaining areas they might struggle and what strategies they and the teachers are employing to find success, as well as highlighting strength areas they are proud of. Our teachers stand ready to support and empower every student, every day!

On the same day, Sandpoint Middle and Clark Fork Jr-Sr High School staff attended a full day training in preparation for holding student-led conferences at their schools next year. In a few short years, all students in our district will be able to host their parents for student-led conferences, showcasing their learning and progress toward their goals.

I am wishing you an uplifting and fun spring break with your kids. It is the perfect time to disconnect, plan family fun, and soak up some free Vitamin D in this beautiful place we live.

Much Gratitude for your partnership, bwm

Dr. Becky Meyer, Superintendent

"It was really neat to see families and students connecting over their hard work, and it was especially great to see students share their achievements with so much pride. I love the accountability our students shared with their families, it’s one of our school-wide goals."

Long Range Facility Planning Committee Long Range Facility Planning Committee

The Long Range Facility Planning Committee has been meeting monthly this year to review building conditions and gather facility and financial planning information.

The committee is made up of members of the community, parents, teachers, and representatives from each of LPOSD's 11 schools. During the March 15th meeting they broke into small groups to discuss project scope and focus, project area prioritization, and the ideal length of plan.

The committee will further refine and focus their ideas at the April 16th meeting in order to present a recommendation to the Board of Trustees in June.

AcaDeca Wins State Again! AcaDeca Wins State Again!

Sandpoint High School’s own Academic Decathlon Team took home the State Championship for the 6th time this year – defending the title against 12 other schools from throughout the state. Together, the team took the highest scores in all ten categories of the competition for our bracket. These include written exams in art, mathematics, music, literature, economics,

science, and social science, as well as essay, speech, and interview.

“These students represented the district, the school, their parents, and our community with grace, kindness, integrity, maturity, and solidity," Coach Haag shared.

With the state championship secured, the primary Sandpoint team will now represent Idaho in the National Championships in Pittsburg, PA this spring. Last year, the team placed third in their division at Nationals, proving that they are a serious contender at the highest level.

March Madness arrived early at Sandpoint High School! For the first time in 15 years, the bulldog boys basketball team captured the district championship and qualified for the state tournament.

Not only did the boys compete, they also brought home the tournament's Sportsmanship Award. "The award is a combination of demonstrating good sportsmanship by our team, coaches, administrators, and fans toward the opposing team and officials. In short, showing respect for the tournament and what it represents," said Head Coach Brian Childs.

Congratulations to the team and coaches on this incredible accomplishment, what a great representation of Sandpoint at State!
