Inclement Weather and School Closure Reminders
With winter weather right around the corner, we want to remind families what to expect in the event of school delays or closures. Remember, we will only provide communication if there is a change in school operation status. If you do not receive an alert or update the morning of school, you can assume that school is operating normally. Parent-guardians and staff will receive alerts through ParentSquare in the event that there is a 2-Hour Delay or Closure of school due to inclement weather. Parent-guardians can also visit the district or school website for the latest information regarding operation status.
- Parent-guardians will receive an email and text message alert through ParentSquare if there is a change to the school day. We encourage parent-guardians to double-check that their correct contact information is up-to-date in ParentVUE.
- Decisions are made based on road conditions, ability for staff and students to safely get to school, and weather forecasts.
- It's possible that Snow Routes may be implemented depending on road conditions.
- 2-Hour Delay and School Closure Decisions will also be announced via FlashAlert for community members who choose to sign up.

Safety Spotlight — How Can You Recognize the Symptoms of an Opioid Overdose?
Respiratory depression (shallow or absent breathing) is a hallmark sign of opioid overdose, potentially culminating in a stupor or unconsciousness, cyanosis (bluish or grayish discoloration around lips and nail beds), and lack of oxygenation to vital organs resulting in a heart attack and death. Call 911 immediately if you suspect an overdose. Opioid ingestion can be confirmed once the patient is alert, but naloxone treatment should begin before confirming if opioid overdose is suspected. Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is available in WLWV middle and high schools, as are staff members who have been trained to administer it.
Know the signs of an opioid overdose:
- Pinpoint pupils
- Slow, shallow, or no breathing
- Gurgling or snoring
- Difficult to wake or can’t wake
- Extreme drowsiness
- Cold, clammy skin
- Gray or blue skin, fingernails, or lips

Boeckman Road Closure Starting January 22
Starting Jan. 22, Boeckman Road in Wilsonville is closing to thru traffic east of I-5 at the “Boeckman Dip” for a period of a year or more. Until Spring of 2025, the City of Wilsonville will be constructing a bridge over the dip and completing other road improvements to bring Boeckman Road to modern urban standards. First Student Bus Company does not believe that this closure will impact busing, but occasional delays due to surrounding traffic are possible.
The project improves safety and recreational opportunities for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians along Boeckman Road, including near the new primary school in Wilsonville that opens for the 2025-26 school year. During construction, no traffic will be permitted between Canyon Creek Road and Sherman Drive. Two-way east-west traffic is being diverted to Elligsen Rd. and to Wilsonville road via Canyon Creek Rd. (west of work area) and Stafford Rd. (east of work area). A temporary traffic signal has been installed at 65th Ave. and Stafford Rd. to accommodate detour traffic.
Questions can be directed to the City of Wilsonville, who has provided an FAQ about the project and is recommending that commuters text BOECKMAN to 866-935-0125 (Standard data and messaging rates apply) for alerts on traffic impacts throughout the project.
Volunteer in WLWV Schools!
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District uses HelpCounter for volunteer registration and sign-in to increase safety and security for all students. Interested volunteers can register to volunteer in WLWV schools by visiting the Volunteer Registration webpage. Simply select 'Start' to fill out your application, which includes a background check. The first time that volunteers sign-in to volunteer at any WLWV school they will be prompted to accept a Volunteer Agreement.
Volunteers must also re-register every three years, or when volunteering at a new school. Note that volunteer coaches register through a different process. Contact your school's athletic director or principal for more information.
Volunteering in WLWV schools is an extremely rewarding experience. Your time is greatly appreciated by both staff and students!
