Campus Vision:
Kaufman Elementary is a learning community committed to preparing our students to become confident, life-long learners who strive to reach high academic goals through personal initiative and perseverance. In collaboration with our parents and community, we will instill honesty, compassion, respect for others, and the importance of good citizenship in a safe, positive, family-focused learning environment.
Campus Mission:
Our goal at Kaufman Elementary is to educate and motivate students by meeting their individual needs in an exciting, fun, and positive instructional environment through the joint partnership of parents, teachers, and community, while preparing them for a successful year.
A Note from Mrs. Corliss
We have had another amazing week! It's hard to believe OCTOBER is here....we are patiently awaiting some cooler weather. Thanks to reaching our fundraiser goal, all of our students enjoyed ice pops at lunch this week—they were a huge hit! We also took time today to celebrate Ms. Lou and Ms. Celia today, thanking them for everything they do to keep our school clean and safe.
Next week will be short but busy as we wrap up the marking period and gear up for a 4-day weekend! Here is what’s coming up:
Monday: All students and staff invited to wear their favorite college gear to support CISD College Night.
Tuesday: We celebrate our fabulous instructional coaches, Mrs. Moore & Mrs. Henslee!
Wednesday: Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day! We’ll have local firefighters collecting coins for breast cancer research, and the Irons cheerleaders will be pumping up our students for an amazing day during morning arrival. Everyone is invited to wear PINK to support breast cancer research or BLUE for World Day of Bullying Prevention!
Thursday: Wear PINK to support ORHS football takes on Grand Oaks. Our top fundraiser winners will enjoy a special lunch under the black lights on the stage with me, complete with a sweet treat provided by our PTO. The marking period ends on Thursday and we will have our first PBR Spirit Night from 5PM-9PM.
Our new adjusted school schedule does not begin until Tuesday, October 13th. We will open doors for students arriving at 7:25AM. Students wanting to eat breakfast at school need to arrive by 7:40AM. Our tardy bell will ring at 7:50AM and school will begin. Our dismissal time did not change and we will continue to dismiss at 3:10PM each day.
We hope you have a fabulous weekend!
THANK YOU!
We can't thank all of our Kaufman families enough for coming out to support us on our first Spring Creek Spirit Night. We earned $1900!

Transportation
Registering/Making a Change for Bus Service
Transportation Change Requests
We now have 4 ways for parents to notify the school about transportation requests. As we all learn the new feature in the CISD App, we will continue to take email requests through the Kaufman Transportation Changes email below. Parent notes, emails, notification through the CISD app are the preferred methods for changing transportation. Due to the volume, we ask that phone calls are used as a last resort.
Reporting Transportation Changes in the SSO
The ability for parents to request transportation changes at elementary and intermediate schools is active in the CISD app on the SSO. This is the same app that was used last year for parents to report absences. Parents can select their student and notify the school of the transportation request. This features automatically sends the teacher a notification. The front office will pull the request and continue to send the paper transportation change to students before dismissal.
Email requests
If you need to change your child's transportation from their typical way home, please send a note with your child to school or call our front desk by 2:00pm. Your note should include your child's name, teacher and how they are to go home.
Example of note:
- My son, John Smith in Mrs. Kaufman's 4th grade class will be a walker today only. From: Mom Smith
Parents/guardians can now send an email to: kaufmantransportationchanges@conroeisd.net
Please include in your email:
- Student full name
- Student's date of birth
- Homeroom teacher
- Form of transportation change requested
- Date or date range for the transportation request change
- Parent name and phone number
The email must come from one of the emails we have on file for your student's account and be received by 2:00 pm. A "received" reply will be sent once processed.
If there are any questions regarding the transportation change request, a phone call will be made to the parent/guardian.
Parent Notes
Parents/guardians can send a note to school with their student notifying the front office of a transportation change.
Phone Calls
Due to the volume of calls, we ask that parents use phone calls as a last resort to change transportation when emergencies arise.
Wheeled and Motorized Vehicle Policy
For the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, the riding of bicycles, scooters, skateboards, e-bikes, e-scooters, or any other motorized or wheeled vehicles is prohibited on school property. If you or your child use any of these modes of transportation to travel to school, you must:
- Dismount at the property line: You must completely get off your vehicle immediately upon reaching the school boundary.
- Walk your vehicle: all bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and electronic riding devices must be walked by hand once you are on school grounds.
- Proceed directly to parking: Walk your vehicle directly to the designated bike racks or designated parking areas.
Golf Carts
Golf carts should follow all traffic laws. Golf carts must be parked along the street or in designated parking spots. For the safety of our students, golf carts should not be parked on school property unless in a designated parking spot.
SMART Tag Reminder
We want to remind families about the importance of students bringing their SMART Tags every day. These tags are not only used for transportation, but also for recording when a student arrives at school and for purchasing lunch. It is extremely important that students keep up with their tags and have them with them daily. All students were provided with a tag at the beginning of the school year, and we will replace it twice before imposing a $2 replacement fee.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and safe process for all of our students!
SMART Tag Parent APP
Parents please sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App, as we are no longer providing Bus Hubs to notify parents of bus delays. This app offers real-time updates on their
child’s school bus, including arrival alerts, and notifications for delays or route changes.
The transportation app is a reliable and convenient way for you to stay informed about your child's transportation. Simply download the app, register, and link your child's student ID to begin receiving important transportation updates.
The link below will provide step-by-step instructions to help you register and get started.
From Nurse Maidens
All Parents:
Medications must be kept in the clinic. If your child needs medication during the school day, you must check it in with the school nurse. Medications cannot be transported on the school bus.
Kinder- 1st Grade Parents:
Accidents happen. Please make sure your child has a change of clothes daily labeled and in their backpack. This is especially helpful after rain events when students get muddy.
Birthdays
- Store bought treats only.
- When bringing birthday treats, please remember they must be left in the front office. The classroom teacher will distribute them.
- Kinder will enjoy their treat at the end of the day.
- 1st - 4th grade will enjoy their treat at the end of lunch.
- If you have questions about what is allowed, please call the front office 832-592-5600.

Celebration Reminders
Electronic Device Procedures
Texas House Bill 1481 prohibits student use of electronic personal devices. All devices must be turned off or in airplane mode and placed in backpacks. Students may not access any electronic device during school hours, 7:30AM- 3:10PM. If a student has a device out during the school day, they will be redirected to put the item in their backpack and parent will be contacted. Repeat violations or refusal to comply with the policy will result in consequences.
Early Pick Up
We want to remind all parents/guardians that if you choose to pick your child up before dismissal, they must be check out by 2:30pm.
No Student Deliveries
For safety reasons, we will only accept meals delivered directly by a parent or guardian. We are not able to accept or deliver food from outside vendors such as DoorDash or Uber Eats. Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe and running smoothly.
Lost & Found
The Lost & Found bins are located in the cafeteria. We encourage parents to label all student items. Students can check daily at lunch for any missing items. At the end of each semester, we lay out items on the stage for a week, hoping they are claimed. At the end of each semester, all left over items are donated to a shelter.
Student Absence Reporting App
We are excited to announce a new feature that will enable you to submit student absences directly through an app in the Parent Portal.
This application is designed to report only full day absences and offers multiple options when selecting a reason for the absence; be it illness related or not. The app will take the place of needing to call in or send an email to report an absence to the Attendance office.
However, if your child has been evaluated by a physician prior to returning, all doctor notes will still need to be sent in either upon return to school or emailed to our Registrar at mfournier@conroeisd.net. Directions for using the Absence Reporting App can be found here.
We look forward to providing this new and convenient option for all future absence reporting!
