They have represented Lovington High School with pride and shown what is possible when you believe in yourself, support your teammates, and never give up.

A Grand Opening for New Beginnings!!!
On October 1, 2026, Lovington High School proudly celebrated the Grand Opening of our newly remodeled Welding and OPEP facilities! A special thank-you to our LHS students for their outstanding presentations and for showcasing the incredible learning taking place through our LVTEC Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the community members, staff, and supporters who attended the event and helped celebrate this exciting achievement.

Celebrating our LHS Custodians!!
Our LHS custodians are the unsung heroes who help keep our school running smoothly every single day. From keeping classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas clean to handling unexpected messes, preparing spaces for school events, and taking care of countless tasks behind the scenes, their hard work makes a tremendous difference in our school community. Their dedication helps provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where students and staff can learn, work, and thrive.
On National Custodian Day, we were proud to recognize and celebrate these incredible team members and thank them for all they do. LHS simply could not operate without their commitment, teamwork, and pride in keeping our school at its best. We are grateful for our custodians and appreciate everything they do for our Wildcat family!

Important Parking Reminder!!!
Students and Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
The City of Lovington will be enforcing the two-hour parking limit on Avenue K in front of Lovington High School. Signage is prominently displayed along Avenue K to remind drivers of the parking restrictions.
Vehicles that are in violation of the two-hour limit may be cited and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
We ask that students and families please be mindful of the posted parking restrictions and plan accordingly when dropping off, picking up, or visiting campus.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work with the City of Lovington to help keep our campus area safe and accessible for everyone.
Important Reminder: Students IDs
A gentle reminder to students and parents/guardians that the LHS Front Office no longer sells student IDs after 4th period.
Student IDs are an important part of our school’s safety and security procedures. Having IDs visible helps staff quickly identify students and helps us maintain a safe and secure campus for everyone.
If a student needs to purchase a replacement ID, please remember:
- Replacement IDs are $5 per ID.
- Students must have cash and exact change when purchasing a replacement ID.
- Replacement IDs will not be sold after 4th period.
Please also remember that, according to the LHS Student Handbook:
“Secondary students must have their school-issued ID on them, visible at all times. A student not having their school-issued ID visible will be subject to consequences.”
Thank you to our students and families for helping us keep LHS safe, secure, and Wildcat strong!
Early Student Pick-Up Reminder
A friendly reminder to parents and guardians who may need to pick up their student early: the cutoff time for early student pick-up is 3:15 p.m.
This deadline helps ensure that our office has enough time to locate your student, allow them to gather their belongings from their locker, and get to the office before the dismissal bell rings.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep the end of the school day running smoothly and safely for everyone. Thank you for your continued support!

October: Integrity
For the month of October Lovington High School's focus was on Integrity.
We are proud to recognize Alma Pimentel (12th), who truly exemplifies the Wildcat trait of Integrity. She consistently demonstrates honesty, strong character, and a commitment to doing what is right, even when no one is watching. Through her hard work, dependability, and the respect she shows others, she proves that integrity is not just about what you say, but how you choose to act each day. She leads by example and shows that doing the right thing matters in both her personal life and her work. We are proud to celebrate a student who represents these values so well and serves as a wonderful example of what it means to be a Wildcat!
Andy Rivera exemplifies the Wildcat trait of integrity by consistently choosing to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. He takes responsibility for his actions, demonstrates honesty, and understands the importance of owning his choices. Andy shows that integrity is about having strong character, being truthful, and holding yourself accountable, regardless of the circumstances. His willingness to admit mistakes, learn from them, and move forward with honesty reflects maturity and a commitment to personal growth. Keeping Students in School:
Attendance Policy Reminder
Lovington High School is committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed—and regular attendance plays a major role in that success. As required by state law and School Board Policy J-0500, students are expected to attend class consistently.
To support this, our school has implemented a series of steps to address unexcused absences.
Parents/guardians will receive notifications by mail when a student accumulates 3, 5, or 7 unexcused absences in any class. At 10 unexcused absences per class, per semester, the Dean of Students will schedule a conference with the parent/guardian, student, and teacher. If the absences are determined to be unexcused (truancy), the student will receive lunch detention equal to the number of days missed.
At this stage, an official Attendance Contract will be put in place for the remainder of the school year. The contract outlines:
-
Student expectations, including no additional unexcused absences, possible loss of extracurricular privileges, and continued lunch detention.
-
Parent/guardian expectations, such as ensuring regular, on-time attendance and notifying the school immediately if a child is absent.
-
School support, including regular communication and access to “Opportunity School” (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4–7 p.m.) to make up absences. Each Opportunity School session counts as one made-up day, and students can complete missing assignments for partial credit.
If a student reaches 15 or more unexcused absences, additional interventions are triggered, including referrals to outside agencies (JPO, CYFD) and a home visit by the Attendance Officer. In extreme cases, students may be referred to New Hope High School due to loss of credit.
As always, we encourage open communication and are here to support students and families in building strong attendance habits.
