We are currently finishing up dress fittings and alterations and will soon begin tuxedo fittings. For all students wearing a tuxedo, please note that students are responsible for providing their own dress black shoes, black socks that cover the ankle, and a plain white button-down dress shirt. Dress shirts should be solid white, and the collar should be a classic design with no buttons. Please see the guide below for the correct collar style and feel free to email me with any questions!

Mock Auditions this week

On Tuesday and Thursday we will having mock auditions after school for all students participating in the All-State process. This is required for all students and counts as a major grade for all Chorale and AAC students. Sopranos and Tenors will audition Tuesday, and Altos and Basses will audition on Thursday. Students have signed up for a 6 minute time slot and only need to be present for that window. Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early in case we run ahead of schedule.

District Auditions

The first round of this year's All-State process will take place on Saturday, September 19 at Clements High School. All students in Chorale are required to audition, and all non-varsity students have the option to participate. I am so excited by the amount of students who have taken on this challenge! Please note, that for non-Chorale students, there is a $30 audition fee that has been added in Presto. In order for me to enter your child, this fee MUST be paid by Tuesday, September 1.

As a reminder for students in Choir AAC- students MUST audition for the District AND Region rounds to fulfill the requirements of the AAC class.

Chorale Updates

Chorale is off to a great start! In addition to everything above, we discussed varsity expectations for these students. They have a much more demanding schedule compared to other classes with several that I'd like to highlight for Varsity Chorale parents:

  • Our first football game performance is THIS Friday! Students are responsible for their own transportation and should plan to be at Mercer Stadium by 6:15 pm. All students will receive complimentary tickets to the game if they wish to stay. Uniform for this performance is gray choir polo and jeans or shorts. Students are also welcome to dress up in the homecoming spirit gear as well!
  • Mock Auditions are this week on Tuesday and Thursday and count as a major grade. Please check with your child to ensure they are practicing!
  • Sectionals: Sectionals are offered for students auditioning in the All-State process. As of now they are NOT required, however, students need to be working independently and coming to sectionals for maximum success. They have practice tracks available to them in their Schoology course. While sectionals are not graded, the Mock Audition will be so please check in on your child to ensure they are practicing and working on the first round of music.

AAC Level-Down Forms

If your child is currently in the Choir AAC course and would like to level down, applications are now available from the counselor's office. Please have your child stop by to retrieve the packet and gather the requested signatures ASAP so that the counseling department can begin processing them. Weekly AAC recordings will soon begin on All State Music so we want to ensure the course code gets switched as soon as possible.

Presto Assistant

Thank you so everyone so far who has logged in to Presto to sign forms and pay fees. As a reminder, all fees and most forms this year will be done via the Presto Assistant website. To access the website, please CLICK HERE. A few points below:

  • If you are NEW to the THS Choir Program: You should have received several emails from Presto Assistant inviting you to finishing setting up your profile. I have already created a profile for every student and the first parent listed in Skyward. The email listed in Skyward is the email that should have received the Presto email. Please follow the directions to complete your profile set up in order to pay fees and sign required forms.
  • If you are a returning parent who does not remember your Presto login, please follow the directions on the website to reset your password to access your account.
  • If you have multiple students and both students do not appear in your parent account, please let me know so that I can ensure they are linked correctly.
  • Presto Assistant does not allow student profiles to pay choir fees or sign forms so please ensure you are able to access your account.

I appreciate those of you who have reached out with your issues as I am working closely with the Presto team to solve individual issues and inform them on how to better streamline the platform for parents.
