Guidance Updates
Final Spring College Admissions Testing
The final spring test administrations of the SAT and ACT exams are coming up, so interested juniors should register ASAP. Remember -- just because a college is test-optional, it does not always mean that it is optional for you/your child if GPA is low based on the MA state college admissions standards, or if the major you're thinking of is competitive at a four-year college (e.g. business, nursing), so please consider taking an admissions test in those cases.
SATs: Click HERE to register. Click HERE to find and view seat availability for an SAT test location. Click HERE for SAT practice exams. Click HERE for more info about SAT fee waivers.
ACT: Click HERE to register for the test. Click HERE to find an ACT test location. Click HERE for free ACT practice.
Senior Exit Survey
All AVA seniors: please complete this super quick Class of 2026 Exit Survey. All public high schools must report this data to the state, and it is very helpful in informing our school's practices and planning for future senior classes. You must be logged into your attleborops.net account to view and submit the survey. This survey is MANDATORY for graduating seniors, and cap/gown/diploma may be withheld until submitted, so please ask questions to Ms. Nellie and submit asap!
Free Community College in MA
Reminder for graduating AVA seniors and famillies: MA state has made community college free of tuition, regardless of income and age, for MA residents. The MassTransfer program is also another great MA-state initiative towards higher education access. Therefore, regardless of what your current graduation plans are, AVA seniors, especially those currently on non-college pathways, should keep programs like these in mind if you ever consider higher education in the future.
Reminder - Scholarships that are Still Open
College-bound/thinking seniors and juniors should take this time to complete any relevant last-minute applications and/or begin researching, making a list of, and applying to relevant scholarships, respectively. Here are a few quick resources:
MEFA list of June-deadline Scholarships for Seniors
MEFA list of general scholarships open to Juniors
CollegeBoard's Scholarship Search Tool
Horatio Alger Scholarships for Career/Technical Education-bound Seniors (June 15th deadline)
As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a lovely weekend!
