OCSA students giving back!

Last Friday, the Ignite Initiative helped to organize a food drive in collaboration with Saddleback Church for those in need. Chris Dion snapped a photo of the activities, and in his own words, one of his favorite moments was the empathy showed by the students when they gave out some of the donated food to Santa Ana locals who walked by and asked for support. Thank you OCSA students, and thank you Chris Dion for being present!

Important Reminders from the Dean Team

Teachers Back on Campus no earlier than October 29

As communicated last Thursday, all academic and elective teachers are required to be back on campus no earlier than Thursday, October 29th. Furthermore, Monday, October 26th (today) and Tuesday, October 27th (tomorrow) are SYNCHRONOUS/LIVE learning days. As more information arises, or the return date is revised again, you will be notified ASAP. At this time, students are still scheduled to return to in-person learning on Wednesday, November 4th.

Accommodations Task Force

Last school year Staci Cruz and Katherine Christy began working on an OCSA Classroom Accommodations Support List with strategies/accommodations to use to support students who struggle with specified skills. Thank you to both for your efforts!

This year we would like to further their work and develop a more comprehensive resource that not only addresses what strategies and supports can be used, but how to use the strategies, and why the strategies are effective. We are looking for teachers interested in this work to join our Accommodations Task Force. We plan on utilizing a few release days throughout the year to work on this. If interested in joining this task force, please email Sally or Greg.

AP Exam Ordering Deadline November 1!

The priority deadline for purchasing an AP exam for this year is Sunday, November 1st at 9:00 PM.
Late registration will run from December 1, 2020 through March 1, 2021 and will incur a $40 late fee per exam.
Students must go to MySchoolBucks.com to purchase their exams.
Please remind students that College Board will not be charging for unused exams this year, so students who decide not to take their exams in the Spring can be issued a full refund.
Lastly, please review your My AP class rosters and then notify any students who have not joined your My AP class that they need to do so using your class join code. If they are not enrolled in your My AP class, an exam cannot be ordered for them. All students need to be enrolled in your My AP class by November 1st.

Be Sure to Upload Substitute Plans in Frontline!

This is a friendly reminder to be sure to upload lesson plans into Frontline when you request a substitute. Our Guest Teachers look there for plans to prepare for their day.

Some other important reminders so substitutes can access your files:

When you attach sub plans in Frontline, please do not use any type of punctuation or special characters in the name of your file.
If there is anything other than letters, your sub will not be able to open your plans.
Also, if you want your sub to be able to open a google doc, please be sure the link you include is “Anyone with the link can view”, as they are opening the link through their personal email.
Only substitutes who also teach in Conservatory have OCSA email.
