Detective Langlois Visits Mrs. Pulaski's Law Enforcement
Our 8th grade law enforcement class had a special guest this week: Detective Langlois, who gave students a hands-on look at what it takes to solve a crime. Detective Langlois attended Hopkins Public Schools and had two children graduate from Hopkins as well. Thank you to Officer Keefauver for organizing the visit.
Students stepped into the role of investigators as they worked through a mock case. Along the way, they learned how to read body language for clues, such as nervous gestures, avoided eye contact, and changes in posture, and how the questions they ask can make or break an investigation. They discovered that open-ended questions draw out far more information than simple yes-or-no ones, and that careful listening is just as important as asking.
By the end of the visit, our 8th grade detectives had pieced together the clues and solved the case. Many students left with a new appreciation for the patience, observation, and critical thinking that go into real detective work.
A big thank you to Detective Langlois for taking the time to share his expertise and bring the classroom to life!

HMS Baseball
There are Tryouts/Evaluations for MS 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade baseball teams. We are running the tryouts/evaluations to see how many kids are interested in the spring, and to give parents time to cover the cost of MS baseball expenses. This also gives Mr. O'Dell a better idea of the number of teams we can have for MS this year. If we have enough players willing to participate, then we can have three different teams.
