Immunizations and Tuberculosis Policy
Ohio Immunization School Law requires that proof of immunizations for every student be on file at the school within fourteen days after entry in order for that student to remain in school. Preschool students are required to have the following immunizations: Varicella (chickenpox), DTaP/DT, Hepatitis B, Polio, MMR, and HiB. Students may be temporarily excluded from school if proof of immunizations is not provided. The district’s Tuberculosis Policy indicates that students that have lived in or visited any country outside of the United States for more than 3 months are required to have a tuberculin skin test. Students MUST have a note from a healthcare provider before starting school.
Instructional Fees
Instructional Fees are $17.50. Payment can be made by cash, check or money order. Instructional fees may be paid on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Checks should be made payable to Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools and returned to the preschool secretary, Mary Ann Stevens. Please write your child(ren)’s name(s) and building in the memo portion of your check.
Annual Student Update (Returning Families)
The Annual Student Update is now available to complete from your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Directions for completing the update can be found here.
Families that are new to the district should be receiving an activation key from your building secretary within the next couple of weeks.
To ensure we have the most up to date information, please complete this process by August 31st, or sooner, as instructed by your building Principal.
Safety Information
At Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools we are proud to provide high-quality learning experiences for all students. We also recognize that children enter our classrooms with a variety of lived experiences and circumstances. As a school district, we are fully committed to meeting the needs of the whole child, and understand that student learning and achievement are best supported in a physically and psychologically safe environment. Our school, family, safety, and mental health agency partnerships are the cornerstone of our whole-child approach to teaching and learning, and ensure that all children are able to navigate their school experience in the way that best meets their unique needs.
Our school has adopted The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol. The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on an all hazards approach as opposed to individual scenarios. The premise is simple - there are five specific actions that can be performed during an incident. The SRP is based on the following actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. Read about the Standard Response Protocols.

Note: Busing is only for students with Individual Education Plans that require special transportation as a related service.
Safe Snacks
Students should pack a healthy nut free snack and drink daily. Foods such as grapes should be cut up as a preventative measure for choking hazards. Staff may offer the child a different safe snack option if there are safety concerns with the snack that was provided by the parents/guardians.
Birthday food treats will not be allowed at school. Feel free to send non-edible items instead! We do want to celebrate your child's birthday, we just want to be respectful to students with food allergies!
Connect to Class Dojo
This year, our entire preschool will be using Class Dojo as a school-wide communication platform. In order to see postings from the school and your child's classroom, you will need to connect. Please follow the link below to connect.
