A HUGE THANK YOU, MAYO FAMILIES!

Dear Mayo Families,

What a wonderful evening we had on Wednesday! Thank you to everyone who joined us for Open House. We loved having the opportunity to welcome you into our classrooms, share a little bit about what your children are learning, and give you a glimpse into the magic that happens here each day.

And, of course, we need to address the elephant in the room… the technology. 😂

Let’s just say that our wifi decided it wanted to be the star of the show. There were a few technical glitches, some unexpected pauses, and perhaps a moment or two when I wondered if the Wi-Fi had simply decided to retire early.

We apologize for the technical hiccups and appreciate your patience and good humor! Thankfully, the important part of the evening—the opportunity to connect with you—doesn't require a perfectly functioning projector or even strong wi-fi signal!

For anyone who would like to revisit the presentation (or, perhaps, actually see the slides we were trying so valiantly to display!), you can find it here.

More importantly, thank you for your continued support of Mayo Elementary. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership we have with our families. Your encouragement, communication, trust, and involvement make such a difference in your children's experience at school.

We know that sending your children to school each day is an act of trust. We do not take that responsibility lightly. Our staff cares deeply about your children—not just as students, but as tiny humans who are growing, learning, figuring things out, making mistakes, trying again, and becoming more independent every day.

We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community of students, families, and staff working together. Thank you for being part of The Greatest School on Earth! 🎪

And next time, we promise to bring the same enthusiasm… and perhaps a backup router. 😉

Also, I would be remiss if I did not mention Dolly Parton today, Every once in a while, we come across a quote that feels like it belongs in an elementary school. Dolly Parton has said, “If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.”

I love this idea because it is so simple, and yet so powerful. A smile, a kind word, an invitation to play, or a little encouragement can completely change someone's day. Our children don't need to do something extraordinary to make a difference—they just need to notice the people around them and choose kindness.

And if anyone knows a thing or two about making the world a little brighter, it's Dolly!

So today, on what is 9 to 5 day, let's take a page from Dolly's book: bring a little more kindness, a little more joy, and maybe just a little more sparkle wherever you go.

With gratitude,

Kristin
