Generosity Challenge for the Month of November
Dear Walker Families,
A family generosity challenge is a wonderful idea to try with your family this November.
1. Weekly Themes
- Week 1: Acts of Kindness for Each Other – Focus on small, thoughtful actions within the family. Each person can surprise another with a kind gesture, like making someone’s bed, leaving a kind note, or doing a chore for them.
- Week 2: Generosity to Neighbors and Friends – Find ways to brighten the day for people outside your home, like baking treats to share, offering to help a neighbor, or calling a friend just to check in.
- Week 3: Giving Back to the Community – Pick a community-focused activity. You could donate food or supplies, volunteer somewhere together, or even pick up litter in your local park.
- Week 4: Gratitude and Reflection – End the month by discussing what everyone learned about generosity. Share stories, reflect on how it felt to give, and decide on ways to keep generosity alive all year long.
I hope this challenge can strengthen your family going into the holiday season!

November Core Value
SEE IT:
Read the following quotes and have each family member pick their favorite. Tell each other why it is your favorite and what it means to you.
That’s what I consider true generosity: You give your all and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing. — Simone de Beauvoir
You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you. — John Bunyan
Generosity could be as contagious as the zombie plague as long as enough people were willing to be carriers. — Jonathan Mayberry
Money is but one venue for generosity. Kindness is an even more valuable currency. — Alan Cohen
The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward. — Carol Ryrie Brink
Beyond blessed I am, and that’s why I give it back to anyone that’s around me in my presence! — LeBron James
BE IT:
As a family, create a quote about generosity. Decide why it is important, how it supports the family, how it improves your life and others’ lives, and the positive impact it has on the world. Once you have a quote that summarizes the importance of generosity, write it on a poster and hang it where the whole family can read it every day. Look for ways that you and your family can live out the spirit of generosity.
One stop shopping for all things related to kids and social emotional concerns!
