Message from Ms. Athanson
Greetings,
Thank you to our families that came out for SAC this past Tuesday. It was nice to connect with so many. I look forward to seeing our families again for PTSA this Tuesday at PTSA (5:30). Remember, you must be there in the first 10 minutes to receive credit. If you want to be a volunteer and need fingerprints, please see the QR below to register for the event during the PTA meeting.
Parents of middle school students this is a firm reminder that you may not use the elementary carline for dismissal. It is an unsupervised area and students found over there will be considered out of area. We need you to support our rules that keep students safe.
Volleyball season is getting ready to start for middle school. Paperwork will be collected from August 19th - 27th. This has been on our morning announcements all week and students are reminded that we do not accept late paperwork. Please see the flyer below for details.
Parents, now that we are all back in the building, we are seeing some common colds and illness. This happens every year at every school as we acclimate to being around new friends. I want to remind you to check out the attachment below on when to keep your student home, when a doctor's note is required upon return and more.
On Wednesday, 8/26 we will have our Elementary Open House. This event will be approximately 30 minutes and begins at 5pm. If you have a sibling in elementary, the second open house will begin at 5:45. Remember, you must scan the QR code to get meeting credit.
Gentle reminder that our Grace Period has ended, and infractions will be implemented on Monday. Please review the student handbook (attached below). I want to take a moment to remind families to check out the flyer below on dress code. Shorts must be uniform shorts in navy, black, tan or grey. Athletic shorts and denim shorts are not permitted. Additionally, skirts may not be shorter than 3" above their knee.
Starts with Hello week is coming up. We would appreciate any of the following donations to help make this week a success: sidewalk chalk, Hello name tags and poster markers.
Schoolwide clubs and tutoring will begin September 7th. A schedule will come out in the next newsletter that will include dates, times and locations.
Thank you to those families that helped out by donating plants for our school. If you wish to use your meeting credit for August reach out to Deb Ivy.
We have partnered again with Kona Ice for the school year. This is a fundraiser for the school that helps with school beautification and for our PBIS rewards system. We will begin on September 11th, and a flyer will be posted prior to the event.
Please review the section below for ways to volunteer. We have always had outstanding partnerships with our families within our Elementary and we would like to expand our volunteers to Middle. Reach out to Mrs. Lake if you are interested in volunteering in any capacity.
Middle school students will learn about their targeted learning class on Monday. Please expect them to come home with information explaining their options, choices and process for selection.
Parents we want to make you aware of two ways to report a concern after school hours. Our first choice is to always report during the day to a trusted adult but if not then please utilize either of these sites.
Fortify FL:
Students can provide a description of a threat, share pictures and videos, and submit their contact information. It can be anonymous or non-anonymous.
See Something:
National public awareness campaign managed by Homeland Security. Reporting for a safety threat, bullying victimization, or a classmate at risk of self-harm or suicide. The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System allows students in grades 4-12 to share a concern, privately and safely, allowing for intervention and assistance before a crisis occurs.
Thank you
Fundamentals of the carline...
Drop off begins at 7:15. Students may not exit their car until this time. We ask everyone to pull up all the way to avoid gaps in the line and have an efficient and timely process.
Elementary school:
- Elementary students will exit their vehicle in the designated areas
- Students will head to the covered court area and remain supervised until class begins
- If they wish to eat breakfast, there will be students to escort them to the elementary cafe
- If you have a student in elementary and middle, you may choose either line to use and they may walk to their designated areas
Middle school:
- Students may exit their vehicle from the covered walkway by the middle school office all the way to the cafeteria.
- Students will enter the cafeteria and remail in their until the bell rings to release to class at 7:38.
- Students that want breakfast will enter the elementary cafe to eat and then head to the middle school cafe till classes begin.
Pick Up for elementary begins at 1:55 and 2:15 for middle. Parents, we ask that you not arrive prior to 30 minutes of dismissal. Arriving too early blocks the flow of traffic for visitors, deliveries and early dismissal for appointments.
Early release for appointments: Parents, we understand that students need to be released early from time to time for appointments. We ask that if you need to pick up your student, please arrive prior to 30 minutes from dismissal (ex: elementary by 1:25, middle by 1:45). This will allow you to utilize the carline without issue.
