GRIMSRUD ELEMENTARY

• For increased data security, teacher assignments are being shared through PowerSchool log-ins this year.
• Starting August 8th at 5:00pm, all BPS elementaries are opening up PowerSchool for parents to log in and view who their child's teacher is for the new school year.
• *Please note you will need a PowerSchool Account to do this.
• If you do not already have a PowerSchool account, new accounts can be created beginning Monday, August 11th by following these instructions.
• You can call or email the school office from 7:15-3:15pm (701-323-4150 or grimsrud_secretary@bismarckschools.org) to receive the specific access ID and Password to link your student to your new account.
• Your account will allow you to know your child's teacher and continue to give you updates as to how your child is performing in school regularly- a critical piece for our home-to-school partnership!

• If your child is sick and will not be attending school, please call the office at 701-323-4150 or email Grimsrud_secretary@bismarckschools.org

• YOUR INFORMATION: If you have moved or changed personal contact information (address, phone number, email, etc.) please notify the office as soon as possible so you can receive important information from us.

• OPEN HOUSE: Grimsrud's Back to School Open House is set for Thursday, August 14th from 3:30-4:30pm. CLICK HERE to view details. If you are a new family to Grimsrud, please plan to watch a recorded Principal presentation prior to the start of school. This video will be available in the gym during open house.

Front/Gym Doors Open: 7:20am

• *There will be NO Daily MORNING Recess on the playground before school this year- students report to the gym to read or visit with friends

School Begins:- 7:47am (First Bell) 7:50am (final tardy bell)

Breakfast: 7:50 am in the classrooms

School Dismissal: 2:20pm from the front lawn

Reminders

• Parents are encouraged to drop off students as close to the start of school as possible given breakfast isn’t served until after the bell rings

• Students will not be allowed in the school prior to 7:20 when supervision in the gym begins.

• If students arrive between 7:20 and 7:47am, they are to enter through the front doors and go directly to the gym/lunchroom where they will read a book or visit quietly with friends until the bell rings.

• Supervision is not provided after 2:20 pm. Bismarck Parks and Recreation has priority to school grounds (playground) during BLAST hours. To ensure the safety of all, students must go directly to their designated after school place or be picked up right away at 2:20pm.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH will be FREE for all students at Grimsrud.

Breakfast will be served in the classroom beginning at 7:50 each day.

*There will be no seconds on breakfast.

If your student brings lunch from home and wants to purchase a milk ($0.50 each), please add funds to their account using Linq Connect.

Parent Meals are now $4.50 each. If you plan to eat lunch with your student, please bring cash, exact change only, as we do no accept credit cards.

Although not needed for school lunch or funding support, if you receive free or reduced pricing on extracurricular activities or after school programs, please still complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application for this year.

BPS utilizes a communication tool called BrightArrow. All important messages from Grimsrud and BPS will be sent to you by email or text message.

You will be asked after the 1st message to "opt in" to receiving our text messages. PLEASE OPT IN! Otherwise, you will not receive any further messages by text. If you have not received any text messages from BPS or Grimsrud yet, please text the word "YES" to the number 79041.

New North Dakota state law mandates "bell-to-bell" cell phone restrictions in K-12 public schools. This law requires phones to be inaccessible during instruction times. Bismarck Public Schools is committed to enforcing this requirement while providing safe and effective learning environments for all students.

Smartwatches with connectivity (i.e., capable of texting, calling, or internet use) are also not allowed during the school day under the new law.
