🏠Who We Are
Norms & Expectations
Every learner deserves to experience school as a safe and joyful environment where they can explore and grow to their fullest potential. In order to make this possible, everyone involved needs to be bought in!
- In our class we work to maintain a growth mindset. We embrace challenges and learn from our mistakes. Mistakes are okay, and are in fact helpful information to help us grow. We embrace the process and understand that productive struggle leads to success and deeper understanding.
- In our class we are respectful of all members of the class including ourselves. We think before we speak.
- In our class we take accountability for our actions by offering genuine apologies, repairing relationships or items, and working hard to refresh and fix our behavior. We take ownership!
- In our class we find joy by celebrating accomplishments big or small, and fostering meaningful connections and relationships with one another.

🌱Unit 2 Test Thursday 11/5
Homework
- 📝 On paper --> Students will bring home 1 math homework page each night Monday-Thursday, due the next day. No homework on Fridays unless a student must complete make-up homework. Homework will be checked for effort and completion each day, and we will go over solutions as a class.
- 💻 iReady Online --> Students are expected to pass 2 lessons each week on iReady math. I give students time to work on this in class, so if they are on-task it is likely they can complete and pass these lessons without needing to work on it at home. But students are always welcome to work on extra iReady lessons at home if they want. (This has not started yet! I will let you/students know when this requirement begins)
- ** Please do not help your student too much with the iReady program. I will not have clear idea of what your child may need more support in versus what they have already mastered. We would love to see you help your student in math with other tools like talking about math positively, practicing multiplication/division facts, reviewing homework/classwork, extra practice books, and real world math problems. Grocery stores are great places to implement quick and easy math talk outside of school!

📖Reading Log
II believe that reading regularly helps students build a larger vocabulary, sharpen critical thinking, improve academic performance across subject areas, and support their creativity and interests!
At home students are required to read a book of choice regularly. Their goal is to read 140 minutes each week, which could be 20 minutes a day, or distributed how they choose. Students must keep track of their minutes and log this each week using my Reading Log Google Form. They need to fill out this form once a week. I will check reading logs on Mondays and input grades then. Please check out their reading log and reach out with any questions!

- Britannica U.S. State Capitols Online Quiz
- Sheppard Software Website --> This site has various levels of geography practice, students can click to learn and repeat the names of the states/capitals, then go to the next level to test their knowledge.

What is iReady?
This program lets students learn, practice, and assess the math skills they are learning in the classroom. As the teacher, it is incredibly important to see where students need additional support to fully grasp a concept. iReady is adaptive, which means that it adjust lessons based on the skills the student should be working on. Some lessons are green, meaning they are assigned automatically by the program for that individual student's pacing. Some lessons are blue, meaning they are assigned directly by me or another teacher, likely because we want to see how that student performs on a skill we are working on in class.
