NEWS FROM MRS. PAGANO
Our preschoolers are getting so excited as we begin our special end-of-the-year Alphabet Countdown! Each day brings a new letter-themed surprise filled with fun, learning, and laughter. We kicked things off with “A” for Alphabet Day and jumped right into “B” for Bubble Day this week. The children had a blast making their own bubble wands, creating colorful bubble art, and testing different materials to discover which ones made the biggest bubbles. Of course, the best part was heading outside together to blow bubbles across the playground and chase them through the sunshine!
Next up was “C” for Circus Day, and the excitement around the classroom has been impossible to miss! Our countdown is a wonderful way to celebrate all the fun, friendships, and memories we have made throughout the school year while still keeping learning playful and engaging. The children look forward to discovering each new letter activity, and we are looking forward to making these last weeks of preschool extra special together!

NEWS FROM MRS. PITTENGER
We are excited to share that our classrooms are currently immersed in the Garden Study. The children have been busy exploring the wonderful world of plants, fruits, and vegetables while learning how to care for a garden. Throughout this study, students are learning what plants need to grow, including sunlight, water, soil, and care, while also discovering different fruits and vegetables and where they come from. They are practicing hands-on gardening skills such as planting seeds and watering plants, and exploring the important role that insects and animals play in helping gardens grow.
In addition, we are having meaningful conversations about healthy foods and how fruits and vegetables help our bodies stay strong. They are especially enjoying getting their hands a little dirty as they plant their own seeds, and this study is encouraging curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for nature.
You can support this learning at home by talking about your favorite fruits and vegetables, allowing your child to help with simple gardening tasks like watering plants, visiting a local farm stand or grocery store to explore new produce together, or reading books about gardens, plants, and healthy foods.

We love seeing the excitement and wonder this study is bringing to our students. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child grow and learn!

Fourth Grade English Language and Social Studies Update
The fourth grade students have been busy this spring with opinion writing. Developing these essays has been fun and informative and they have all really improved their writing skills and vocabulary. The students have also been reading poetry, drama, and short passages. It has been so great to see how much everyone has grown as a reader this year! In Social Studies, we have been studying World War II and sharing many important and meaningful discussions. All our learning is in full bloom this spring!

NEWS FROM MRS. HOON
In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, students explored the creative art of Blackout Poetry using recycled book pages. Students carefully selected words and phrases from the text to craft original poems, transforming old pages into meaningful works of art. To complete their projects, they added detailed drawings and designs that enhanced the mood and message of their poetry. This activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and a new appreciation for the power of words and art combined. (See pictures below) Over the last few weeks, we dove into the award-winning novel Holes by Louis Sachar. Students enjoyed exploring the novel’s themes of friendship, perseverance, choices, and justice while following the adventures of the characters at Camp Green Lake. Throughout the unit, students discussed important lessons learned in the story and compared how the plot, characters, and key scenes were portrayed in the book versus the movie adaptation. To celebrate completing the novel, students enjoyed themed snacks inspired by foods from the story, making the experience even more memorable and engaging. The unit sparked thoughtful conversations while bringing literature to life in a fun and meaningful way. Every year Stillwater School’s 6th grade students participate in the Jeffrey Stevenson Memorial Day Essay Contest. Jeffrey Stevenson, a Stillwater School graduate and United States Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq from 2007–2008, is remembered for his service and dedication to his country. The contest invited students to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day and honor the sacrifices of those who have served. Congratulations to first place winner Danielle Smolinski and second place winner Thomas Rincon for their outstanding essays and thoughtful reflections. Stillwater Township Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 10:00 am at Veterans Memorial Park. Mrs. Hoon
