Message From the Assistant Principal Message From the Assistant Principal

Dear Silver Firs Families,

As we enter our final month of the school year, we want to celebrate the incredible effort and accomplishments of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students—and extend heartfelt thanks to our amazing staff—for a smooth and successful SBA (Smarter Balanced Assessment) season! Our students have worked diligently all year, and we are so proud of the progress they've made.

Statewide testing plays a vital role in ensuring that all public school students across Washington receive a high-quality education. These assessments help track student growth from elementary through middle school, and in high school, they serve as key indicators of readiness for graduation.

We also want to express our sincere appreciation to all our parents and guardians. Your involvement—whether attending conferences, participating in PTA events, or supporting your child’s learning at home—has made a meaningful difference. Thank you for being such strong partners in our shared mission to support student success.

Looking ahead to next year, we will continue to focus on English Language Arts, Math, and Science as we design curriculum and lessons that align with state standards and assessments. Our teachers collaborate in grade-level teams to identify students who need additional support, set clear goals, provide targeted instruction, implement interventions, and closely monitor progress. Staff development and planning take place during extended meetings, Learning Improvement Fridays, Professional Learning Community sessions, and dedicated professional development days. These ongoing efforts are key to improving our instructional practices and boosting student achievement.

Another important priority is improving student attendance. Consistent, on-time attendance is essential for learning, and we will continue to work closely with families to support this goal in the coming year.

With summer just around the corner, we encourage you to make reading a fun part of your family's activities—alongside baseball, park outings, and swimming! Pick up a good book and enjoy it with your child. This summer’s district-wide theme is “Level Up,” and students will have access to engaging reading, math, and science opportunities on the Summer Opportunities Website. Be sure to log your child’s participation by clicking the Click here to record your participation icon in the top right corner of the site. We also invite families to visit the Silver Firs library during our open library time on Wednesdays from 10:00-1:00, or your local public library to take advantage of the summer programs there.

Enjoy a fun and relaxing summer with your children, stay safe, and thank you for a wonderful year at Silver Firs!

Warm regards,

Brent Radcliff
