On Friday, November 7, we had the pleasure of celebrating some truly exceptional students during our High Five Breakfast! This special event recognized students who made outstanding contributions during Quarter 1 and were nominated by our GLHS administrators for their growth, effort, and positive impact on our school community.

Students were honored in three categories:

🌟 The Go-Getter Award – Celebrating students who demonstrate remarkable personal growth and a commitment to continuous self-improvement. These students embrace challenges, seek opportunities to develop new skills, and make measurable strides in both their academic and personal lives.

🤝 The Helping Hand Award – Recognizing students who consistently go out of their way to assist others. Whether through tutoring, volunteering, or supporting peers, these students embody what it means to make our community stronger through kindness and service.

🎒 The B.A.G. Award – Honoring students who have shown significant growth in Behavior, Attendance, or Grades. These students have turned challenges into successes and serve as examples of resilience, dedication, and P.R.I.D.E. in action.

It was such a joy to celebrate these students and see the pride on their faces as they were recognized for their hard work and positive spirit. They truly represent the best of what it means to be part of our GLHS family.

Check out the short 25-second highlight clip below to see some of the wonderful moments from our High Five Breakfast!

Congratulations to all of our High Five honorees. You make us proud every single day!

Recommendation Letter Requests

This week in SchooLinks, students can focus on organization and time management by creating personalized to-do lists and planners. Using these tools helps students stay on top of assignments, deadlines, and goals—building habits that support success both in and out of the classroom.

Encourage your student to:

  • Set up their digital to-do list in SchooLinks

  • Add upcoming assignments, projects, and important dates

  • Check their planner regularly to track progress and stay ahead

Developing strong organizational skills now helps students manage their responsibilities with confidence and reduces stress as they balance school, activities, and life. A little planning goes a long way toward reaching their goals!

If you or your student have questions along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out to their school counselor for support.

Get ready to clean out those closets -- Lions Thrift is back and the Student Council is ready to collect! This student-led project encourages students and staff to reduce, reuse, and donate by bringing in gently used clothing items they no longer wear. Donations will be collected from Monday, October 27 through Friday, November 14 in the main office, by the L doors, and at Clark Hall. Collected items will be transformed into a free, in-school thrift event, where students and staff can browse and take what they need at no cost!

We're collecting:

  • Outerwear (jackets, sweaters, hoodies, etc)
  • Tops (t-shirts, long sleeves, tank tops, etc)
  • Bottoms (jeans, leggings, sweatpants, shorts, etc)
  • Shoes
  • Accessories (jewelry, watches, etc)

We're NOT collecting:

  • Undergarments
  • Swimwear
  • Socks

After the event, all remaining items will be donated to Goodwill, allowing us to give back to the broader community. The event will take place during lunch periods on Tuesday, November 25 -- perfectly timed for the season of giving!

Fall Musical: Into the Woods Fall Musical: Into the Woods

Our incredibly talented students have been working hard to bring James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods to life on stage! This beloved Tony Award-winning musical weaves together classic fairy-tale characters in a story that’s both enchanting and deeply meaningful.

This year’s production is extra special, as it marks our first-ever fall musical and the final performance on our current stage before we move to the new building. The show features student-driven choreography, design, projections, and performances that truly showcase their creativity and dedication.

Join us November 13-15 for this memorable performance as we go “Into the Woods” and “On to the New Stage.” Opening night will also include the exciting announcement of our spring show! Tickets are available now! Click here to buy your ticket.

Don’t miss this magical celebration of student talent and tradition!
