Hobey Baker High School Character Award
Congratulations to DFHS Senior Zakkary Matadobra for being the 2026 recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. This award is given to a high school hockey player who embodies the Hobey Baker spirit of excellence, humility, character, and a love for the game that lifts others higher. Zakkary was presented this award at the Carolina Hurricanes home game on April 4. Zakkary has been playing for four years on Columbia Fusion, a high school club hockey team.
Astronomy News
Welcome back, fellow stargazers! The splashdown of the "Integrity" capsule, the final stage of the Artemis II Mission, occurred last weekend. It was an exciting time for the nation and space enthusiasts in general.
Mr. Cameron witnessed this event on television from New York while attending the North American Astronomy Forum and Space Expo over the break. It was an incredible experience that allowed for contacts with various scientists performing cutting-edge research on exoplanets, sunspots, the heliosphere, and other topics. Several of these scientists expressed an interest in involving DFHS in their research.
The program also provided the opportunity to perform Solar Observing. Although the trip was long and tiring, it was a tremendous plus for the Astronomy classes at DFHS.
Keep looking up!
