JUDY CENTER NEWS

Collaboration and partnerships with the community lie at the heart of Maryland’s Judy Center Early Learning Hubs. Judy Centers are not childcare centers but a comprehensive hub where families can participate in family learning experiences and receive services and support. In Title I and high-needs elementary schools in every Maryland jurisdiction, Judy Centers empower a child’s first teachers- their families- by supporting child development and early learning skills for our youngest learners from birth through kindergarten.

In St. Mary's County there are three Judy Center Early Learning Hubs located at Green Holly Elementary, George Washington Carver Elementary, and Lexington Park Elementary dedicated to providing comprehensive, community-based early learning services for children prenatal through kindergarten and their families. Families must live in the Green Holly, George Washington Carver, and Lexington Park Elementary School zones, or be actively working with the Infants and Toddlers program, or be experiencing housing-insecurities. We believe that all children should enter school ready to learn and that families are the foundation for their children's school success. The Judy Center provides many parent-child learning opportunities and fun, free family activities to promote school readiness.

Playgroups are held year round at all 3 Judy Center Early Learning Hub locations and are a great way to meet other parents and participate in fun learning activities with your little one!

• The Judy Center is available to help parents and guardians with creating or fine tuning your resume, interview skills, finding a job, sharpening your job skills and more.

• There is a lending library filled with learning activities, games, books, and more at each location! Reach out to the Judy Center staff at your site for more information.
• The Judy Center Family Service Specialists are available to assist with goal setting for you and your family.
• Each location has a Family Advisory Committee that meets three times a year and provides input on Judy Center activities, outreach, and grant performance measures.

• The Judy Center can connect you with community resources, food pantries, and more!
