5th Grade News
January 23, 2026
A big congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams! They were recognized for great seasons this morning at morning assembly. A huge thank you to Larissa Feramisco, Alyssa Wigle, Aaron Gilles, and Daniel Connelly for coaching these kids, and furthering their love for the sport!
This week was super busy with SciTrek, STAR Testing, and no school on Monday. We are a little behind on our Language Arts for the week, so we skipped our Grammar and Spelling tests today, and will finish up and test on Wednesday instead.
We continue to make progress with our State Report, finishing up "Interesting Information" this week. In Math, we took our STAR Math test, and also started to multiply fractions. With this unit, we continue recognizing and practicing how to simplify. In Reading, we focused on dramas, and are working to put on a mini stage play! In SciTrek the class discovered they could not make conclusions from their first experiments, and designed a second experiment with only one changing variable. They will run through another experiment, make conclusions, and present their findings to the class. In Social Studies, we began our study of the American Revolution, and closely looked at some of the events that caused tension within the colonies. In Religion, we pulled apart the Introductory Rites, the first part of a mass, and introduced our Catholic Daughter's of America contest and thought about our entries.

Congratulations to Arthur for being an outstanding NEIGHBOR! Arthur is honest, and treats classmates and teachers with respect and kindness. Way to go, Arthur!
