A Message from the Williston Schools Leadership Team
by Angela Filion, Allen Brook School Principal
Dear ABS Families and Caregivers,
As we head into the busy and joyful final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible WFAP and community members for the thoughtful week of appreciation and acknowledgment shown to our educators and staff. The kindness, treats, notes, and gestures of support meant so much to our team. Our educators work tirelessly every day to support, nurture, and inspire children, and feeling the appreciation from our community truly filled everyone’s buckets.
Last Friday, we also had the pleasure of welcoming the Story Sharks from CVU, who brought student-written stories to life through creative and entertaining performances. Our students were absolutely captivated seeing their ideas acted out in such a fun and meaningful way. Thank you to the CVU students and staff for sharing their talents with us!
Our Book Fair(also sponsored and supported by WFAP) and Art Show were also a huge success! It was wonderful to see families filling the halls, celebrating student creativity, and sharing the joy of reading together. A very special thank you goes out to Emily McCracken for the tremendous amount of time, energy, and heart she puts into making this event such a joyful and memorable experience for our school community each year.
We also have many exciting end-of-year celebrations and events just around the corner! One event we hope many families will join us for is our School Dance next Thursday, May 21st from 6:00–7:00 PM. We hope to see lots of kiddos and families there for an evening of fun, music, and connection.
The countdown to summer is officially on…and while the pace is busy, these moments of community, celebration, and joy remind us how special ABS truly is.

It’s Prevention Week: Small Conversations Have a Big Impact
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) team supports students in grades 5–12 by promoting well-being, prevention, and healthy decision-making, and serves as a resource for both students and caregivers. Each May, communities across the country recognize National Prevention Week as a time to promote healthy choices, positive relationships, and mental well-being for young people. Prevention efforts are important for students. The skills children build early, such as coping with stress, making safe decisions, and asking for help, can have a lasting impact on their health and success. Through education, connection, and supportive adults, Prevention Week reminds us that prevention is not just about avoiding risky behaviors, but about helping all students develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive. Read more tips and conversation starters.

Hill Closings
In the event that weather and/or road conditions make it unsafe for our buses to travel hill roads, we will notify parents and/or caregivers of students on those routes with as much notice as possible.
When hills are closed for afternoon bus runs, if no one arrives to meet younger students, they will be brought back to school until arrangements are made for them to be picked up. Please talk with your bus drivers to let them know if you are comfortable letting your child walk home from the drop off location.
We will use the automated SchoolMessenger system to notify families on the hill roads.
