FNE Family Newsletter
September 2026

Message from the Principal
Dear FNE Families,
What a wonderful start we’ve had to the school year! Over the first few weeks, our focus has been on building strong routines and relationships, and I am so proud of how quickly our students have settled into the rhythm of learning. From the classroom to the cafeteria, our Tigers are showing respect, responsibility, and kindness every day.
As we move into September, our attention is turning toward developing academic habits that will help our students grow as learners—skills like note-taking, working with partners, and using evidence in their work. With the support of our teachers and families, I know our students will continue to thrive.
Thank you for your partnership and for entrusting us with your children. Together, we are creating a place where every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to do their best.
Expect nothing less but the best, we are FNE!
With excitement and gratitude,
Mrs. Cruz
Principal

Lunch Visitors Update
We value the opportunities that allow our families to connect with their children and be part of their school experience. In previous years, parents and guardians were able to join their child for lunch on designated days. Due to changes in our campus schedule and cafeteria accommodations this school year, we will not be able to accommodate regular lunch visitors.
We value opportunities for our families to connect with their children and engage in meaningful experiences at school. Throughout the year, we will offer special family engagement events and experiences designed to bring students and families together and strengthen our school community. Some of these opportunities may be connected to student celebrations or incentives, while others will be open family engagement events. We look forward to creating special moments for our families to connect, celebrate, and be part of their child’s school experience. Additional information about these opportunities will be shared throughout the year.
Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued partnership. We appreciate your support as we work to provide meaningful experiences for our students while ensuring our cafeteria routines and schedules meet the needs of our entire campus.

Capturing Kids Heart
At FNE, relationships come first—and that’s why we are proud to be a 5x Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Campus! This recognition reflects our commitment to creating a campus where every student feels valued, safe, and connected.
This month’s Capturing Kids’ Hearts Family Newsletter focuses on empathy—helping children recognize, respect, and celebrate the feelings of others. Inside, you’ll find simple activities and conversation starters to use at home, such as creating a family Social Contract, celebrating differences, and finding ways to “be a light” for others in your community. We encourage you to explore these ideas together as a family and join us in building a culture of kindness and understanding.
Each month you will receive a newsletter from your school and Capturing Kids’ Hearts that aligns with a monthly theme. These newsletters include ideas, challenges, and activities to help you connect, reflect, and grow as a family. Each family newsletter will:
- Define and explain the focused character trait for the month.
- Provide you with ideas and activities to help you grow your child’s character.
- Equip you with conversation starters you can use to talk with your child and make their learning personal and relevant. Get started this month with the first family newsletter. We are excited to be on this journey with you! We are BETTER Together, Your Friends at Capturing Kids’ Hearts

Class Dojo Parent Information
We’re excited to share that this year, we are implementing ClassDojo campus-wide! This will be our main platform to keep you informed and connected.
Through ClassDojo, you’ll be able to:
Receive updates about campus events and celebrations
See important classroom news and highlights
Message directly with your child’s teacher for quick, easy communication
Our goal is to make sure you never miss a moment—whether it’s a special school-wide celebration or a small classroom success. ClassDojo will help us work together as a team to support your child’s learning and growth.
It was brought to our attention that ClassDojo has been prompting parents to sign up for a paid membership when registering for the first time. This pop-up can be easily bypassed by clicking on the white in the top righthand corner. FNE does not require parents to use the paid version of the app. You will have access to all features FNE will be utilizing with a free parent account.
