Meet the Principal

It is hard to believe we have already completed our first 9 weeks of the 2022-2023 school year. It it such a privilege to be able to serve the students and staff at CMS as their principal. I began my 28th year in education this year, bringing a wide range of experiences with me in doing so. I grew up in Daingerfield, Texas (yes, I was excited when we went there and beat them) and made my way to Tennessee to teach my first year in 5th grade in a city school system south of Nashville. I came back to Texas the very next year to teach middle school math and coach at Gladewater. After being there for 4 years, I made my way to New Diana where I taught math and continued my coaching as well. I coached football, powerlifting, track, and tennis during my 16 years tenure at ND before crossing over to the dark side (cue Darth Vader's Imperial March) with my move to administration in White Oak. I was the Primary (K-2) and Intermediate (3-5) assistant principal there for 2 years before moving to the high school for the next 4 years.

I am blessed with a wonderful family with my wife Kellie and I having 4 kids between us. Her oldest daughter is a 2nd grade teacher at White Oak Primary School and her youngest daughter will be a graduate of UT Tyler's School of Business in December of this year. My oldest son will be a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology in May of 2023 and my daughter is a sophomore at The University of North Texas. Being empty nesters as of recently, it was hard to watch them grow but so excited to watch them spread their wings and fly.

I look forward to getting to know this community more as my time here continues along with the families of each of these wonderful students. If you ever have questions or just want to say hello, give me a call or stop by. I always try to make sure parents feel welcome here at Center Middle School.

Great things happening at CMS!!!

We have many activities going on at CMS this fall! With athletics, UIL academics, Junior Chamber of Commerce, band, theater, My Sister/Myself, and so many other endeavors, our students are staying involved and active in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. I urge all parents/guardians to speak frequently with their children on what is being offered for the students to be involved in and with what is going on in these activities.
