REMINDER

This is a friendly reminder of the upcoming deadline for North Dakota State immunization requirements. FPS will impose the deadline of Tuesday, Oct. 20th as the last day students can be in school without proper documentation. This also goes for birth certificate, proof of address (current lease agreement & utility bill), and completed registration forms. If you have any questions please call the main office at (701) 446-4200.

New this school year

  • Plan for End of Day: Please make plans for how your child will be going home at the end of the day prior to coming to school. We understand that emergencies happen and we are happy to assist with those changes; however it is very difficult to relay messages to all learners during dismissal time. Please call the office before 1:30 PM if your child has a change of plan for end-of-day dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our learners safe and our dismissal running smoothly.

  • Health Threshold for student attendance

This policy sets a clear health threshold for learner's attendance. Here is what it entails:

    • Fever Threshold: Learner running a body temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher must be sent home.

    • School Protocol: Parents or guardians will be notified to pick up their child if the student reaches or exceeds this temperature.

    • Health Guideline: This standard aligns with general medical guidance (such as CDC recommendations) requiring learners to be fever-free without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

Drop off & Pick up Loop

When dropping off in the parent loop, please be patient and careful. There have been reports about impatient and aggressive drivers. As a reminder: Pull up to the end of the loop (past door 2-the gym door). Caregivers should drop off on the south loop and remaining in your car at all times. If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the parking lot. The north loop is for school buses and daycare vans. If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the lot. Please model civility toward others as we all adjust to our new routines.

    Healthy Smart Snack Items

Making good choices for snacks can be very helpful in your child's education. Every day learners will have snack time and are welcome to bring a healthy snack from home. Snacks are encouraged to be purchased with a label attached to show the ingredients in the item. To ensure safety of students, families are NOT allowed to bring birthday or celebration food snacks to school for the class in accordance with the district's Wellness Policy (AP 3250). Please look at the policy prior to sending snacks or contact the Kennedy office with questions. On a FEW occasions, there will be days at Kennedy Elementary where sweet treats will be allowed. These dates will be shared with the parents by the classroom teacher. Please reserve the cake, ice cream, and sweets for celebrations outside of school.

    Busing Information

Learners will scan each time they enter the bus. When learners arrive at the school, they will not scan off the bus, but the bus driver will complete a walk-through of the bus to make sure all learners are off the bus (this saves valuable time each morning). At the end of the school day, returning home, your learner needs to scan on and off the bus. When learners scan, we can, in real-time, know that they are either on the bus or have exited the bus. This provides another level of safety for our learners. Please encourage your child to participate in the scanning process onto the bus in the morning and scanning both on and off the bus after school.

Caregivers can download the “Here Comes the Bus” app, which notifies parents when their children are picked up and dropped off. Learners must scan on and off the bus in order for the app to work. The School District Code is 37022. You will need your learner's ID number. Please encourage them to scan on and off the bus every time.

Click here for instructions on how to set up Here Comes the Bus. Learners can also download the app and view where their bus is located.

FPS Mill Levy - A Message from Dr Steiner

    FPS Excess Mill Levy Vote

On the November 3 general election, Fargo Public Schools will have a question on the ballot for approval of an excess mill levy. The approval would grant Fargo Public Schools the authority to maintain its current offerings in its schools. Providing this authority ensures that the District can continue to cover the costs of offering a comprehensive educational experience for all learners.

Fargo Public Schools will host two information sessions where residents can learn about the ballot question, hear a presentation, and ask questions. Join us at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 in the South High School theater and 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 21 in the North High School theater.

Please vote on November 3 and visit www.fargo.k12.nd.us/vote2026 to learn more about the impact this vote will have on the District's schools, learners, educators, and the community.
