Welcome Mrs. Lucy

If your kids come home today talking about meeting our next assistant principal, they are telling you the truth! Mrs. Kelley Lucy was in the building and will be starting with us full time on September 16th. Mrs. Lucy has most recently served as the Dean of Students at the Templeton Elementary School. Today we were able to make it to almost every class, allowing the students to put a face with the name. We did spend the whole lunch with kindergarten as well because it is so fun! Mrs. Lucy will be at Open House on the 17th, so I hope many of you have a chance to say hello during that evening.

International Dot Day- Friday Sept. 13th at JRB International Dot Day- Friday Sept. 13th at JRB

International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a chance for her to be brave and believe in herself.

And each year on International Dot Day – with the help of people just like you –the inspiration continues. What started as a story in the pages of a book is transforming teaching and learning around the world as people of all ages re-discover the power and potential of creativity in all they do.

This Friday, September 13th, we will celebrate Dot Day at JRB. In many classes, students and teachers will design their very own “dot” and hang it in the hallway. We would also invite everyone to wear dots on Friday if you can!

Notes From The Nurse's Office

Hello JRB Families,

I want to welcome all of our new families and welcome back our returning families!

A few reminders to help us to assist your students to be as successful as possible while at school:

If your student will be receiving medication while at school, whether it be daily or as needed, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss the documentation that will be needed. When bringing medication to school for your student please DO NOT place the medication in the students backpack. An adult is required to bring in all medications to the office and hand them to either myself or another office staff member.

**Please remember to inform the Nurses Office if your child has been in an accident or injured. It is important to keep the Nurses Office Office updated on injuries and accidents so that we can provide the best care for your child while in school.

**Please report your student’s illness/injury/reason when calling or emailing in an absence.

If your student has a fever over 100 degrees, they should remain at home until they have been fever free for 24hrs without the use of medication.

**If your student has been vomiting and/or has diarrhea, they should remain at home until they have not had any more episodes for 24hrs.

I look forward to a wonderful year with all of your students!!

If you ever have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me in the Nurse's Office!
