A Message From Your Principal
Dear Families,
As we head into the week before Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and generosity you continue to show our school community. Your thoughtful contributions to our annual Food Drive have made a meaningful difference for many families, and we are truly grateful for your support. It’s inspiring to see our students learning the value of giving and compassion through your example. As a gentle reminder, we will be collecting donations until next Wednesday, November 26th.
This coming week will be filled with learning, connection, and a bit of festive excitement as we prepare for the holiday break. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend ahead—restful, warm, and filled with time spent with those who matter most.
Thank you for being such an important part of our school family. Wishing you a happy and peaceful weekend!
With gratitude,
Ms. Bishop
Principal

Nurse Update
As the change of weather is upon us, we will see an increase in the number of respiratory viruses. Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread:
Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.
Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.
Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.
Proper handwashing, nutrition, adequate hydration, and regular sleep are the best ways to prevent illness. These strategies also shorten the duration of an illness.
Guidelines for return to school after an illness:
For fever over 100 degrees, your child must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, to return to school
For vomiting and/or diarrhea, your child must wait 24 hours after the last time they experienced vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school
If your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis and prescribed antibiotics, your child can not return to school until they have been on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours. A doctor's note should be brought to school via their backpack, emailed to awhite@mpsd.org, or faxed to 339-244-2475.
Any student returning after an injury that requires a doctor's visit or x-ray, must return with a doctor's note stating the diagnosis and activity restrictions, if any.
Annual Screenings Completed:
Hearing, vision and BMI screenings have been completed for most students. If it is recommended that your child needs to be referred for further vision or hearing assessment, you will receive a letter with details. Please feel free to contact Alison White, RN at 781-834-5090, ext. 44500 with any questions or concerns.
Physical Exams:
If you have a child in Kindergarten or Grade 4 and have not sent in an updated physical exam, please do so as soon as possible. You can send the updated physical form in your child’s backpack, email it to Nurse White at awhite@mpsd.org or ask the pediatrician to fax the most recent physical to 339-244-2475. Thank you!
Volunteering at EWS
CORI applications need to be redone every few years and we are currently in a three-year cycle covering 2023-2026. All volunteers need to complete a CORI, even if you were approved prior to 2023. Please visit the Front Office to complete a CORI application and provide a copy of your license - it will only take a minutes. Applications are then reviewed by MPSD Central Office, which can take up to a week to process. If you have any questions, please contact Val Quigley (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org).
However, to clarify, if you have an approved CORI from last year, it is still valid for this school year!
Lunch Menu & Nutrition Update
Ice cream will be available for purchase on Fridays starting October 10th!
Breakfast and lunch are free options to all students for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note, breakfast is available upon arrival from 8:35-8:50 am, however, students can also get breakfast during the morning once the school day starts if they skipped breakfast or forgot their snack. For more information, please visit MPSD School Nutrition.
My School Bucks is an online account for families to easily manage and pay for school meals, a la carte items (such as ice cream), etc. These accounts stay with students throughout grades K-12 and funds can be replenished when balances get low. Here's the information from the MPSD Nutrition webpage on how to set up your account - My School Bucks.
