I trust everybody enjoyed their Halloween weekend and congratulations to the Atlanta Braves!

In light of the news of vaccination authorization for ages five to eleven by the FDA, I would like to draw your attention to this week's Covid Corner which not only links to the latest communiqué, but also features information about an online vaccine survey currently being conducted by our partners over at Emory University. Be sure to scroll down for information about the launch of our online sportswear shop, extra basketball team tryouts and the opportunity to serve on our Board of Directors.

Latest COVID Communiqué

Please read the most recent Vol. 9 COVID Communiqué by clicking here. If you have any questions, please email health@theglobeacademy.net.

Vaccine survey

We encourage our GLOBE community to complete this vaccine survey being conducted by Emory University. The survey is 100% anonymous and it will assist in gauging interest in hosting a vaccine clinic on campus and addressing any common misconceptions within the community.

Thank you to all of our parents and staff for your vigilance in keeping GLOBE's COVID policies and procedures and for your support as we work to create the safest on-campus environment as possible. Click here to download the COVID handbook.

Staff Gift Fund - Help support our teachers

The Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) Staff Gift Fund supports our passionate, hard-working, dynamic teachers and staff who help our children every day. Click here to make your donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated. If possible, we suggest a donation of $50 per child, per school year. Thank you.

Lower Campus Lost & Found will be cleaned out by Thanksgiving break. If your child is missing an item, email us with a description and name tag information (if applicable). If we are able to locate your item(s), we will email you to coordinate a pick up.

Volunteers are required to help organize the Lost & Found. Volunteers must be unaccompanied (no children or guests) and masks are required. To sign-up, click here.

New sportswear store launches this Friday

In addition to our standard GLOBE spirit wear, a new online sportswear store will officially launch on November 5 with an exclusive store promotion. Click here to visit the store or click on the image. Enter code SPIRIT21 for a discount. 10% of every sale goes back to GLOBE to assist with future purchases of sports equipment.

Fall Banquets

The soccer banquet will be held on Wednesday, November 3. The volleyball banquet the following day on Thursday, November 4. Both banquets will start at 3:30pm and finish at 5pm, and will take place at the covered tables in front of the school. Due to Covid restrictions we will meet outside for awards and ice cream treats.

Basketball team tryouts - one last chance

Due to the crazy circumstances of this school year, we are holding one final tryout session for both the girls and boys basketball teams. Anyone who missed the earlier sessions or would like a second chance can tryout for the girls team on Wednesday November 3, or the boys A and B teams on Thursday November 4, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm in the gym.

Please make plans for your child to attend if they are interested. Those already on the team are not in jeopardy of losing their spot. Additions may be added at the coaches discretion. If you have any questions, please send us an email.

The GLOBE Academy Board of Directors are looking for qualified candidates who are passionate, talented, engaged individuals that have a real desire to get involved and improve educational opportunities. All candidates are expected to serve on a Board-level committee for at least six months before being considered for Board membership. To learn more or communicate your interest, email Board Chair Ryan Hudak.

Board recruitment meetings

Join us at our upcoming Board recruitment meetings, to be held on Zoom, on Thursday, November 4 at 7.30pm and Wednesday, November 10 at 10am. Scan the QR code above to connect.

We welcome suitable photos for the yearbook. Submit your photos here. User ID is 416725960. When asked for a caption, please only list the student(s) and grade(s).

Haven’t ordered your yearbook yet? - Order it now!

Last week, you should have received the first edition of Whoo’s Wondering, in which Executive Director Christi Elliott-Earby and Board Chair Ryan Hudak answered a selection of questions that you submitted. (Missed it? You can check it out here.) They’ll be back at it recording another edition of the series soon. Submit your questions here.

Upper Campus

Parents of morning walkers should escort your student(s) all the way to the crosswalk/traffic light before crossing Briarcliff to ensure they use the cross walk safely.

Breakfast is served from 7:30-7:55. Students should arrive early enough to have time to eat.

Lower Campus

Please avoid parking on Briarwillow Drive, particularly in the afternoon, as this makes pedestrian crossing especially difficult. Remember to pack a spare mask and wear them correctly to cover both mouth and nose.

We now have a limited number of spaces available. If you are in need of aftercare please email us at cclines@theglobeacademy.net.

There are several ways we communicate with GLOBE families, and we are continuing to work to improve their effectiveness. In addition to this newsletter, be sure the channels below are on your radar.

• Weekly teacher emails: Every Friday, you will receive an email from each of your child's teachers, with details on what they're doing at school. Not receiving these? Please let us know. (You can of course email the teachers with any questions, too.)

• Remind text alerts: Remind is a service that we use to send time-sensitive alerts via text message. (There's also an app available.) If you haven't yet signed up for this, please do so by texting @globers to 81010 for whole school updates.

For Upper Campus messages, send a text message to 81010 with the message @ucgl

For Lower Campus messages, send a text message to 81010 with the message @lcgl

• GLOBE website: This is a go-to source for enduring information. (There's a search option in the top right corner to make it easier to find what you need.)
• GLOBE Facebook page: Don't use social media? No problem. While we know Facebook is useful for many, any critical information shared here will also be shared on other channels.

This newsletter is intended for the families of GLOBE students. Please share your feedback, so we can continue to improve how we disseminate information about what's happening at school.

As always, you can find the school menu (remember, lunch and breakfast are free for all who want them this year!), the academic calendar, and the family handbook on our website.
