National Native American Heritage Month
November is here!
Lincoln Families,
November marks National Native American Heritage Month, a time to bring awareness to the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American communities. This month, we will have opportunities for our students to learn more about the diverse traditions and resilience of Indigenous peoples, both past and present.
By building our understanding and honoring Native American heritage, we celebrate the strength and wisdom that Indigenous cultures bring to our shared history. We encourage families to join us in recognizing and respecting this important part of our national heritage.
Thank you for your support in nurturing a community that values learning and inclusivity.

We’re excited to announce that Lincoln Middle School is serving as a local voting center! Our school is proud to support our community by providing a convenient place for you to cast your vote and make your voice heard.
We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and participate in the democratic process. Voting is an important way to contribute to decisions that impact our community.

Lions Leading! Recognizing effective instructional practices!
Culturally Responsive Teaching
We’re thrilled to highlight a creative and culturally responsive science lesson led by Mrs. Magee this week! In her class, students explored states of matter through a hands-on activity inspired by Dr. Seuss's "Oobleck." By experimenting with this playful substance, students discovered how matter can shift between a liquid and a solid based on the force applied—a fantastic way to bring science concepts to life!
Mrs. Magee’s innovative approach not only made learning fun but also fostered curiosity and engagement. We are proud to have such inspiring teaching moments happening in our classrooms!
Smore Language Access
Smartphone Interactions and Learning Experiences (Project SMILE)
We are excited to inform you that SMMUSD is partnering with the University of North Carolina on a study that will explore the effects of smartphones and social media on children. As part of this study, your student will be asked to complete three surveys: a pre-survey, a mid-year survey, and a post-survey.
Mrs. Gutierrez, our Bilingual Community Liaison, will engage parents and collect parental consent for student participation in the surveys. Our goal is to achieve a response rate of 75-80%.
We hope to gather all parent consent forms within the next two weeks, with the first surveys starting in early November.
Attached, you’ll find the flyer with a QR code linking to the digital parent consent form. We’ve also included the digital consent form in both English and Spanish below.
Thank you for your support and participation!
Campus Beautification!
