P-TECH Library Grand Opening πŸ“– P-TECH Library Grand Opening πŸ“–

After more than a full school year of hard work, the P-TECH Library Committee was able to finally celebrate the grand opening of the P-TECH Library! With the support of Mrs. Giruzzi, a P-TECH English teacher, and Ms. Janice Murray, the OHM BOCES School Library System and Media Services Coordinator, students built a school library from the ground up. They started with nothing more than a passion for reading and developed an official school library, complete with a database, a checkout system, and over 1,000 books! OHM BOCES District Superintendent Patricia N. Kilburn, Ed.D. spoke at the event and cut the ribbon to officially unveil the library for use.

Thank you Dr. Kilburn, Mrs. Giruzzi, Ms. Janice Murray and all those who donated books to our library as well! Our students could not have accomplished this feat without your support. P-TECH is always accepting book donations for our library as well!

As the final part of their project surrounding The Martian, students made their final presentations to their peers, family members and business partners. Each group gave a detailed overview of their plans to establish and maintain a colony on Mars. Their community designs included layouts of their buildings, plans to sustain a food source and ideas to maintain the mental health of the colonists, among many other points. Everyone was proud to see the culmination of all the students' hard work over the course of this extensive project. The students gave excellent presentations!
