NOTE: THE FMS ELEVATOR IS OUT OF SERVICE AT THIS TIME

Franklinton Middle School families,

We want to make you aware that the elevator at Franklinton Middle School is currently undergoing repairs and will be temporarily out of service during Open House and the beginning of the school year.

If your student has a mobility or accessibility need that may require elevator access, please visit the front office during Open House or contact the school’s front office as soon as possible. Our staff will work directly with your family to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place and that your student can safely and fully access their classes and other necessary areas of the school.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these repairs are completed. We look forward to welcoming our students and families back to Franklinton Middle School!

TRANSPORTATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEW TO FMS! TRANSPORTATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEW TO FMS!

BUS TRANSPORTATION

We are lucky to be fully staffed with wonderful bus drivers at FMS this year. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to ensure that no bus is overcrowded and that routes are equitable and efficient.

During the first week of school:

  • Students may be picked up or dropped off by buses at various times while bus drivers are acclimating to their new routes.
  • If you were told or the computer showed a particular drop-off or pick-up time, please understand the reality of the route on the first day of school may have pick-up or drop-off 30 minutes early to 30 minutes late.
  • Students need to be out there early and be patient waiting for the bus to arrive. Figure on being out earlier than your pick-up time and waiting until 8am. If it's 8:00 am and still no pick-up please call the school at 919-494-2971.
  • Please be patient, we will quickly establish regular times. If there are any permanent changes for your child you will be notified.

HOW TO CHECK BUS PICK-UP & DROP OFF TIMES

  1. Go to the district website at fcschools.net
  2. Click on the "Parents" tab at the top of the page
  3. Click on the option "Locate My Child's School"
  4. Enter your address in the Address box and then click "Go"
  5. You will see all the schools listed. Click on FRANKLINTON MIDDLE SCHOOL
  6. Now you can see the Bus # as well as the pick up and drop off times.

**THE TIMES ARE NOT SET IN STONE! MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS OUT THERE EARLY!

CAR RIDERS

  • Please drop-off and pick-up at the Baptist Church (white church on Cheatham and Mason) parking lot across from 9 Cheatham Street.
  • Drop-off or pick-up anywhere else can result in a ticket from the Franklinton Police Department - they are concerned with student safety and vehicle safety.
  • The school opens its doors at 8:00 am - students will not be allowed to enter the school before 8:00 am. Please plan to drop-off between 8:00 am and 8:25 am.
  • Pick-up begins at 3:15 pm and ends at 3:30 pm, and is in the same church parking lot on Cheatham Street. Please make sure you are there during those times. If a student is left waiting, we will bring them to the main office to wait with supervision.
  • Students will be released by grade level. Please be patient while waiting.

WALKERS

  • The school opens its doors at 8:00 am - students will not be allowed to enter the school before 8am. Please have your child leave with the plan to arrive at the school between 8:00 am and 8:25 am.

NOTE REGARDING FACILITY RENTALS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT

Franklin County Schools is pleased to provide a streamlined process for community organizations, families, staff, and other groups interested in using district facilities.

Effective July 1, 2026, Franklin County Schools began using Follett Facilities Schedules as the district's online system for submitting and managing facility-use requests.

The Franklin County Board of Education encourages the appropriate community use of school facilities. Our schools are important community resources, and this online process is designed to make requesting space more consistent, organized, and accessible.

Facility Use Requests

Individuals and organizations wishing to use an FCS facility should submit their request through the district's online Facility Use Request portal.

The system allows users to:

  • Submit facility-use requests online
  • Request available district spaces
  • Receive updates regarding the status of a request
  • Maintain communication throughout the approval process

Facility-use fees and applicable charges are established in accordance with Franklin County Board of Education Policy 5030. Payments for approved facility-use requests will be collected through the online portal.

Please note: Submission of a request does not guarantee approval or availability of a facility. Requests are subject to district procedures, scheduling availability, applicable fees, and approval.

To learn more or submit a request, visit:

Facility Use Request:
https://www.fcschools.net/community/facility-use-request

Questions regarding facility use may be directed to Dr. Larranda Spivey at larrandaspivey@fcschools.net.

FMS CELL PHONE USE

At FMS we follow the cell phone policy closely. Students will continue to be able to use their cell phone before school, during lunch, and after school. Cell phones should be put away in a backpack at all other times. *Cell phone are NOT allowed to be out during transitions or in the bathroom or kept on the student's person.

If a teacher can see the cell phone during restricted times, they will tell the student to put the cell phone away in their backpack. That will be their one time warning.

If a student continues to disregard cell phone policy or refuses to put their cell phone away, we will follow the FCS policy and the FCS student discipline matrix to determine consequences.
