Greetings from Mr. E Greetings from Mr. E

Hello Jefferson Families!

First let me say that I will miss your kids over the summer! It is going to be weird not having Kids Klub or ELO here this summer, though they will both be back here next summer.

It was a pretty eventful school year this year! Bringing back field trips was great for our students. We look forward to more of those in the future. We have said our goodbyes to a few staff members and get ready to welcome a few new teachers this fall. Mrs. Michelle Strickland will be leaving Jefferson and heading to Cody in the fall. Ms. Melissa Schult and Ms. Karissa Cox will both be moving to the Omaha area over the summer. Ms. Schult will be teaching 6th Grade while Ms. Cox will continue to be a SPED/Resource teacher. Ms. Kallie Bush will be moving with the 5th Grade to Madison this fall where she will head up Music and Band. Mr. Epley filled in PE for us 2nd semester and did a good job for us. Ms. Colleen Hodges will be moving grades. She will be moving from 2nd Grade to 5th Grade in the fall. Mr. Warren Lannon will be moving from 5th Grade to 4th Grade in the fall. Congratulations to all of those folks for jobs well done here at Jefferson and we wish them the best of luck moving forward.

Joining the Jefferson Teaching staff this fall will be Ms. Eve Cantos in 2nd Grade; Mr. Marcel Sinapilo in 5th Grade; Mrs. Harmony Wagner in SPED; Mr. Matt Denker in PE; Ms. Marta Holsher-Nelson in Music; and Mrs. Marie Holmes-Brosius as the Dean of Students, a new position here at Jefferson. We are excited to have all of these folks joining us this fall.

We will hold our Open House on Tuesday, August 8 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. You will be able to bring school supplies and meet your student’s teachers at that time. PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) will also have a booth to sign up. We are in need of another officer and some needed volunteers to help with events throughout the school year. Please consider joining the PTO. With that, I would like to give them a huge shout out for all of their work this year! Some of the events include: Bingo for Books (Fall and Spring); Holiday Sales for kids; Movie Night; Veteran’s Day Program; Wild Bill’s Valentine’s Party; Ice Cream for 5th Grade (DARE Graduation) and Staff (Staff Appreciation); dinners during Parent/Teacher Conferences; Cookies for 5th Recognition; just to name a few! THANK YOU PTO!!!!

The first day of school is Thursday August 10 for ALL 1st through 5th Graders. Our Kindergarten is split into two days, EITHER Thursday, August 10 OR Friday, August 11. We will be sending out letters in July to inform you of which day to attend. Those two days are a little shorter for the Kindergarten students, as well. Kindergarten will start in full swing on Monday, August 14 with regular hours.

Our custodial crew will be working all summer to prepare our school for the fall. We are doing some deep cleaning and scrubbing. We will also be doing a little painting this summer and a few other minor projects. Our custodians do a great job of keeping our school looking good. Thank them if you ever see them, Ronnnie, Jordan, and new to our crew, Rosie.

Finally, I just want to thank you all for your continued support in the education of your children. Jefferson Elementary School is an AWESOME School to work in. We have a great staff. They are here for kids! One of our goals this year (every year) was to increase our MAPS scores. Over half of our students met or exceeded their goals this year and several other kids missed their goal by less than five points! Great job Jefferson Students and staff!

Have a great summer! See you in August.

Mr. E

The Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Team has been getting together each month to discuss data that students present with academics and behaviors we can assist with during the school day. We are seeing great success with the interventions we are implementing school wide! With our return to school we will have all classes reteach the school expectations within the building and on the playground. This review will help students be successful in remembering how to behave in different situations while within the building. Please take a few moments to discuss with your child the different rules/guidelines that they need to follow at school (in the classroom, hallways, bathroom, playground, etc.) and talk about how they are the same or different from the rules you use at home! Thank you again for your support!

Character Counts at Jefferson Elementary School! Character Counts at Jefferson Elementary School!

Card 4 recipients

Here at Jefferson Elementary we have Character Counts punch cards for each quarter. Earning punches on the Character Cards happens through receiving DoJo points and when caught doing the right thing. Those students who receive 10 punches on their quarterly Character Cards turned them in to Mr. E. At the monthly assembly the students receive specific prizes for their punch cards. The students who turned in all 4 of their Character Cards for the year received a special Character Counts T-Shirt from Mr. E.

Way to go!! We are so proud of you! Go Jefferson Jaguars!!
