The Hive

Dear HMS Families,

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. The weather is beautiful and we are enjoying having all the kids back in our beautiful building. We kicked off our Thanksgiving break with our first social of the year. We had the BEST time with about 48% of our student body. It was such a great time and reminded us how truly amazing our students are. If you want to see pictures from this event, please check out our Facebook and Instagram pages!

I apologize for not getting this newsletter out before break. It was lost in the shuffle of my to-do list, but I am sending it to you today with lots of important information. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

We have three very quick weeks coming up as we head into the holiday season. This is the busiest, yet most fun time of year.

With Kindness,

Bess & Sid

Hello Hockinson Middle School Families!

This year we are excited to be able to expand the resources we are able to provide to families in need. Attached you will see a Holiday Resource Guide that goes over all the different ways we are able to provide support this year. Additionally, our annual Christmas Giving Tree is now live in the HMS Office. This year all tags will be gift cards to various stores in the area as that is the most in-demand need from our families.

Please feel free to come grab a tag and return the item by December 15th!

Thank you and feel free to reach out to me with any questions! Have a great holiday season! Ben Nelson (Ben.Nelson@Hocksd.org)

If you are travelling out of the country during the holidays, please let us know so that our IT department can make sure student Chromebooks are working correctly and don't get blocked. Thank you!!!

The PWT and AAA Boosters put on a fun cookie exchange event every year at all three schools. They have asked us to share this information with all of you, if you are able to provide cookies for this event. It's so fun to see all the different cookies that our amazing community provides!

Here is the link for parents to sign up to donate cookies: HSD Cookie Exchange Donation Sign Up.

Here is the link to purchase Al & Ernie cookies for donation or donate money if a parent is unable to bake/buy cookies: HSD Cookie Exchange CheddarUp.

Boys Basketball is open to 7th and 8th grade students. We will have 3 teams and not all athletes who try out will make a team.

This is such a fun community event and we are excited to encourage all of you to join us in our community tree lighting. Our very own HMS band will be performing holiday songs for everyone to enjoy. The event begins at 6:00pm. We hope to see you there!

The Hockinson PWT is excited to continue supporting the students and staff at Hockinson Middle School this year! In partnership with school administration, we are raising funds for two important initiatives: Staff Appreciation activities HMS Staff Hospitality and new Recess Equipment HMS Recess Equipment.

• Our fundraising goal for staff hospitality this year is $2,500.
• Our fundraising goal for recess equipment this year is $300.
