Falcon Tales
Falcon Tales #3: Week of July 21

This Week's Reading Skill: Identifying Story Elements
Story elements help readers make sense of what they read. Paying attention to the characters (who), the setting (where and when), and the events (what happens in the story) helps readers better understand the text.
Here are a couple of ways you could practice this skill at home with this week's read aloud videos:
-
After listening, ask questions like: “Who were the characters in the story?” “Where and when did it take place?” or "What happened in the story?"
-
Have your child(ren) try illustrating the text by drawing some of the story elements (e.g., characters and settings) or naming three important things that happened.
