Singing Across the State

During All State Choir Weekend, 1,000 students came from across the state of SD to perform in concert together. Students were selected through auditions to be part of the orchestra and choir. At this event students perform collegiate level music, and work with conductors who are world renowned.

All State Choir members from SHS were Chesnie Anderson, Elizabeth Meyer, Everleigh Kirk, Mahree Geyer, Hank Hanson, Owen Anderson, Rylan Anderson, and Jonathan Meyer, pictured above with their choir instructor, Ms. Sharon Zettlemoyer. The students perfomed on October 31st at The Monument in Rapid City. Senior Chesnie Anderson was also recognized for participating in and being selected for All State Choir for the past 4 years. Congrats to this great ensemble!

If you missed the concert, don't worry! It is still available at

Region Ready!

The volleyball girls worked hard all fall and finished the season this week with their region game against Groton. These 15 girls were dedicated to doing their best. They learned to play together and the importance of the word Team! Their coaches are very proud of them and thank them for a great season!

Players, parents and coaches will celebrate the season with the volleyball banquet on November 17th at 6pm in the MPR. Freshmen are reminded they need to bring a dessert to share.

Planning for the Future

Intro to Ag students have been hard at work practicing employment skills by creating resumes, cover letters, and (pictured above) practicing job interviews.

During the mock interviews, half the class pretend to be the employers. The other half of the class walks out of the room, and then come in as the potential employees. Because interviews start long before a person starts talking, students practice walking in, handshakes, asking to take a seat, etc. Then students switch roles so they can see what it's like from both perspectives.

Get Caught Doing Something Good!

A shout out to HANK HANSON and MIA BOWDEN this week for stepping up and helping out. When some board decorations were accidently knocked down by the 7th period hurry to get out the door in Ms. Eclevia's class, Hank took the time to pick up and put back the items. Mia is recognized by Ms. Chan this week for helping two of her classmates get organized and caught up after they were absent. Thanks for making SHS a better, brighter place this week!
