At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially.
They are:

ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT

Read more on the EPICER page!

In FEBRUARY we will be focusing on the EPICER trait of EMPATHY / KINDNESS:

* I actively listen to others to understand their feelings and the situation

* I can put myself in someone else’s shoes

* I notice clues about how others are feeling: their words and body language

* I celebrate how I am the same and how I am different from others

* I consider other people's feelings/wants/needs when I act

THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES

JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...

Well I guess that Colorado really does have Winter. Who knew that living near the mountains would mean barely any cold days? On top of that, of all the days to have a full on blizzard right in the middle of the AFC Championship game? Really? By the end of that game, it looked like the Broncos weren't playing anyone because you couldn't even see the other team.

Outside of that, here at school we are just getting back into the routines and expectations of the second half of the year. This is a really good time of year for teaching despite the cold weather. Students know the routine and they know all the systems and structures of their classes. Basically these are some of the best learning months of the year right before we jump into state testing in April.

On the home front, not a ton happened this week because it was super cold so I didn't get to go outside like I normally do. I did watch the Broncos game for the first time all year but it was a terrible game and made me extremely happy that I didn't have 300 pound dudes chasing me all over frozen ground trying to throw me down. I'm not sure any amount of money would be worth that. Then again, maybe it would.

That is it for this week's episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ....
