Duncanville ISD: The Champions' Choice

Convocation 2025 was another unforgettable celebration of Panther Pride and purpose! The morning kicked off with energy and excitement as staff came together, once again filling the arena with cheers, laughter, and unity.

We were entertained by the amazing David Whiteman Band, who set the stage with music that kept spirits soaring throughout the morning. The celebration grew even brighter when the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation surprised our District Teachers of the Year with a $1,000 award each, a heartfelt recognition of their dedication and impact.

One of the most talked-about moments came when Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree and Duncanville alumna Lady Jade hit the news desk to deliver our own Convocation spin on Sunday Night Football—except this time, it was Thursday Morning Convocation! With energy, humor, and passion, Dr. Goree shared how Duncanville ISD will continue to Lead with Impact, be the Choice of Champions, and ensure every student experiences a pro-level learning experience.

Later, we were inspired by a powerful Back to School message from George Couros, who reminded us all to hold on to our “why” and the importance of making a difference in the lives of our students.

The atmosphere was once again like a joyous family reunion, brought to life by the performances of our Cheerleaders and supported by our wonderful vendors and sponsors.

Convocation 2025 wasn’t just a kickoff—it was a celebration of who we are as a Panther family and a powerful reminder of the impact we create together. Here’s to another incredible year of Leading with Impact!

Duncanville ISD has once again been recognized for excellence—this time in the arts. The district is one of only 109 school districts in Texas selected to receive the Texas Art Education Association’s (TAEA) Visual Arts Award for the 2024–2025 school year.

With more than 1,200 districts across the state eligible to apply, this recognition places Duncanville ISD among an elite group of leaders in visual arts education. The award is presented by the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, and honors districts that demonstrate outstanding leadership in promoting the arts both in schools and in the community.

To earn this distinction, districts must meet or exceed a rigorous 14-point rubric. Criteria include active participation in TAEA through membership, exhibitions, and contests, as well as community engagement through field experiences, service projects, and collaboration with other academic areas.

“This recognition is a reflection of the talented educators, engaged students, and strong community partnerships that support the arts in Duncanville ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree. “Our visual arts program is thriving at every grade level, and we are proud to see Panther Pride shine through this achievement.”

Congratulations to our visual arts teachers, students, and community partners for making this honor possible!
