Winter Weather

We ask that all students are sent to school with proper winter wear each day. Please review our weather conditions for outdoor recess below.

Weather Conditions

Students will play outdoors when:

  • Temperatures are above 25℉ with consideration given to wind chill factor (www.weather.com)

  • There is light precipitation (e.g. snow flurries, drizzle)

  • Snow is on the ground, depending upon how different play areas are affected

Our November data shows us that there were 64 total referrals. Of the 64 referrals, there were 32 majors and 32 minor. Two areas of success to highlight are that compared to October we had 55 fewer referrals and 34 fewer referrals for having hands on a classmate. The three locations with the most referrals were: classroom, playground, and cafeteria.

Our staff and students will be revisiting and practicing our Bulldog Blueprints lessons for these areas and we continue to work with our students on keeping their hands to themselves, especially when playing with peers at recess.

Linkit! Benchmark Testing - Form B

Our second round of Linkit! Benchmark testing will take place December 18th - December 21st and January 3rd - January 5th for students in grades K-5. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of grade level standards at this point in the year for Reading, Math and Science (4th grade only). Students will be taking the benchmarks in class online via the Linkit! platform using their district device.

Teachers will be sharing with you when the students will be taking their benchmarks. We strongly encourage you to ensure your child's device is fully charged and ask that your child gets a full night of rest and eats a healthy breakfast.

We are looking forward to seeing the growth of our students from the beginning of the year!

This Month in Classroom Champions is all about Community

This month in Classroom Champions, we will focus on Community. Students will learn that we all need support to accomplish dreams and our communities are a great source of this support. Community service has long been seen as an effective way to build empathy in children and adolescents.

Our Student Government is hosting a food drive to help those in need in our local school community. Please consider donating to this great cause!

Our Citizen of the Month trait for December will be focused one students who display and model community within their classroom and our school community.
