Brrr... it's cold!

Students go outside for a 30 minute recess every day as long as the wind chill is 20° or above and it is not raining or snowing. Please make sure your child is dressed for the cold winter weather.
Please encourage your child(ren) to regularly check the Lost & Found tables. They are in the main hallway downstairs near the cafeteria.

The tables are overflowing! If you recognize an item in these photos, call the office at 215-809-6310. We would love to return these items to their rightful owner!

Third graders skills are growing. Especially in Science, with our hydroponic planters! Our lettuce sprouted this week, and we plan to graph the growth. This will help our understanding of measurement in Math too. Ask us about our observations!

Morning Announcers

Mr. Finkel and Mr. Blaydon direct our morning announcements. Fourth grade anchors are rotated every month and the announcements are live-streamed to all the classrooms. The weather forecast, lunch menu, birthdays (or half-birthdays, for summer birthdays) are items reported daily. They also share any special events and reminders.

Below are photos of the green screen setup, and then what it looks like to students during the broadcast!

Mrs. Cromwell's Class

The students in Mrs. Cromwell’s class received their tickets for the Hogwarts Express! Now they will join the magic as they read Harry Potter together.

Safety of all students and staff is a top priority at Tawanka, so we have strict safety procedures in place. A reminder of the following:

Building Entry: All visitors must scan their driver's license or state issued ID at the kiosk in the front vestibule and wait for entry. This is required at every visit, or access will be denied.

Early Dismissals: Please notify the teacher if your child will be picked up early. If being picked up by someone other than a parent/guardian, please specify who will be picking up your child. Students will only be released to individuals listed on the emergency card, but the office must be notified prior to pick-up. Students must be signed out in the main office. Again, driver's license or state issued ID is required to pick up a student. We strongly encourage early dismissals be no later then 3:00pm
