A big thank you to all of our teachers and staff for planning such engaging activities and for helping make this week so special for our students. Your dedication and energy continue to make Riverview a place where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

Please see the reminders below for everything you need to know to join in on the fall fun and keep things running smoothly. We appreciate your continued partnership and support, it truly makes a difference in our school community.

Wishing everyone a joyful, festive week full of learning and laughter!

Sincerely,

Dr. Urban

Fall Weather Reminder Fall Weather Reminder

Fall weather is finally here and as we all know, it can be a bit unpredictable! Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately and prepared for arrival, dismissal, and outdoor recess. As temperatures drop, they may want to keep a sweatshirt at school in case their classroom feels chilly.

It’s also a great time to label coats, hats, and gloves, and remind students to check the Lost & Found if anything has gone missing. Staying prepared helps everyone stay comfortable and ready to enjoy the day!

Fall Parade & Classroom Parties – Reminders Fall Parade & Classroom Parties – Reminders

We are so excited to celebrate fall with our annual Classroom Parties and Parade on October 31st! This is always a special time for students, and our top priorities are safety, supervision, and fun.

Parties & Parent Volunteers

  • Teachers have sent out their classroom sign ups

  • Each classroom will be limited to 5 parent volunteers.

  • Parents who are volunteering will have to sign in at the front office

  • No siblings or pets are allowed at parties.

Party & Parade Times

  • Parties will take place from 2:45–3:15 p.m.

  • The Parade will begin at 3:20 p.m. out in front of the building. Students will exit on the east side, walk around the front, and re-enter on the west side before dismissal.

  • All parents are invited to watch the parade at 3:20

Costume Reminders

  • Students can bring their costume for the party and parade

  • Students should be able to change into costumes independently.

  • Please avoid face makeup, weapons, anything gory, or costumes that are not appropriate for elementary school.

Dismissal & Parking

  • No early checkouts after 3:00 p.m.

  • Normal dismissal procedures will be followed.

  • Please notify the office of any dismissal changes in advance.

  • Parking will be limited. Please only park in designated areas. Do not park in the dismissal loops by the curbs, as this blocks buses and traffic flow.

We look forward to a festive afternoon filled with smiles, costumes, and community fun! Thank you for helping us make this celebration a success!

Attendance & Punctuality Reminders Attendance & Punctuality Reminders

  • Our doors open for students at 8:30 AM, and classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:45 AM.
  • Please help remind your child to be in their seat and ready to learn by 8:45—every minute counts, and there is so much exciting learning to be done each day!
  • If your child will be absent, please notify both the office and their classroom teacher. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals help set students up for success.

Connect, Align, Grow Connect, Align, Grow

At Riverview, our Connect, Align, and Grow goals aren’t just for school, they thrive when our whole community is part of the journey.

  • Connect: Building strong, trusting relationships between students, staff, and families helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

  • Align: Working together—home, school, and community, means students hear consistent messages and expectations wherever they go.

  • Grow: When we nurture curiosity, resilience, and responsibility, students become confident learners and caring citizens who make a difference in our community.

Each week, we’ll share a simple way you can support these goals at home and in the community.

CONNECT – Advocating for Yourself

At Riverview, we know that strong connections also come from students speaking up for their own needs. When students can identify what helps them learn best and share that with teachers and peers, they feel empowered and supported.

How Families Can Help This Week:
Encourage your child to talk about what they need to succeed, whether it’s extra time on an assignment, help understanding a concept, or even a quiet space to focus. Practicing self-advocacy at home helps them build confidence, communicate clearly, and strengthen their connections with adults and classmates at school.

Upcoming Red Ribbon Week

Next week, October 27–31, we’re gearing up for Red Ribbon Week — a nationwide celebration and the biggest drug-prevention movement in the country! Students across America join together each year to learn about making healthy choices and committing to a drug-free life in honor of DEA Special Agent

Enriqué “Kiki” Camarena, whose bravery sparked this important tradition.

We’ll be showing our support with fun spirit days and engaging counseling lessons focused on health, safety, and positive decision-making. Get ready to show your red, show your pride, and say YES to healthy choices!

Celebrations & Shoutouts-We Celebrate Our NEW staff! Celebrations & Shoutouts-We Celebrate Our NEW staff!

A big Falcon welcome to Ms. Kiene and Ms. Menni:

Ms. Kiene, our new Reading Aide, and Ms. Menni, our new Lunchroom Aide, have brought a wealth of experience, positivity, and heart to our school from the moment they arrived. They have jumped right in and are already making such a meaningful impact, supporting students, building connections, and spreading kindness everywhere they go.

We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and can’t wait to see the difference they’ll continue to make. Welcome to the Riverview family, Ms. Kiene and Ms. Menni, we’re SO excited to have you on our team!

Nurse Updates Nurse Updates

We have wonderful nurses available in our front office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:

  • Drop off medications or medication orders

  • Inform us of any new health conditions

  • Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)

  • Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)

We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.

If you prefer, you may also email our nurses directly:

Nancy Tausz – ntausz@usd232.org

Visitor Management System Visitor Management System

Student and staff safety is always our top priority. Riverview will continue using the Centegix Visitor Management System this year, following district safety guidelines. All visitors must check in through the office with a valid photo ID. The ID will be scanned into the system and a visitor sticker with your photo will be printed. This sticker must be worn and visible at all times while in the building.

For the safety of everyone, no visitor will be allowed in the building without a valid ID. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to maintain a secure learning environment for our Falcons.

Arrival/Dismissal Arrival/Dismissal

Car Loop Reminder

Please remember to have your student’s name clearly displayed during car loop pick-up. Since staff members rotate and substitutes occasionally cover, having names visible before you pull up to the cones helps us quickly identify students and ensure they are ready when you arrive. This small step keeps the process running smoothly and efficiently for everyone. Thank you for helping us keep the process safe, smooth, and speedy for everyone!

Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table! Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table!

For your convenience, we have a Drop-Off Table located just inside the front doors. If your student forgot something, like their lunch, instrument, glasses, or any other classroom item, you can simply buzz in, drop it off, and be on your way. No need to sign in or go through the visitor management system. Just remember to write your student’s name on the sticky notes provided so we can make sure it gets to them quickly. Thank you for helping keep our drop-offs smooth and efficient!
