Message From the Principal Message From the Principal

Dear Wildwood Families,

As we enter the seventh week of school, I want to ask for your assistance with parking and traffic safety. At morning drop off, when possible, I ask that you and/or your child walk to school. If you choose to drive to school and you want to walk your child in, please park your car and walk them over. In order to keep the flow of traffic moving, you can not park in the white drop off zone to walk your child to their line, and please let me open the car door to let them out so that we can keep traffic flowing on Wildwood Avenue. When you drop your child off, please resist the urge to stop your car by the kindergarten playground gate. It is important that you pull up into the drop off zone as close as possible to the front entrance of the school. And, make sure that your child has all of their belongings ready to go when I come to open the car door for them to exit. In some cases, cars stop far back in the drop off zone, blocking the flow of traffic, and students are not ready to exit the car. If your child is not ready, give them time and pull up to the front of the drop off zone once the cars in front of you have departed. Also, I ask that you not cut off cars and pull in front of cars when students are getting out and coming into school. That can lead to dangerous situations for drivers and for students. As I’m sure you have noticed, Piedmont Police Department has been at school regularly to encourage and ensure safe arrivals and departures for students and families each day. Please help them and our school community by following our traffic safety protocols. Please pass along this information to any caregiver or family member who assists in your child's drop off or pick up.

With all of that said, I would love additional help at morning drop off. If any of you are interested in helping me welcome students to school in the morning, I have a very stylish orange vest I can let you borrow. If that doesn’t entice you, the smiles on the faces of our students when you open the doors of their cars is truly special. It is one of the best parts of my day and it sets me and them up for success. You can reach out to me if you are able to help or you can just come at 8:20 any morning you are available. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

With gratitude for your support,

Amy Fry

Greetings, Wildwood families!

Join us for a special week of fun and fitness in Physical Education!

We invite you to participate with your child’s PE class to experience how they are learning to lead physically active and healthy lives.

Class times are listed on the RSVP form which you can fill out here.

Hope to see you there!

What is Family PE Week?

Family PE Week is an event designed to give parents and guardians an opportunity to experience the same physical education program their child participates in at school.

What to expect: This is a “learn by doing” event, so expect to run, jump, have fun, play, and LEARN while participating as a member of your child’s PE class! If participation is not possible, you are welcome to come and observe.

What to wear: Wear comfy clothing, sneakers, and don’t forget to bring a water bottle!

When to come: Meet us on the yard at the time indicated on the RSVP form. Please arrive 5 minutes early and sign in at the front office before coming down to the lower yard. This is a security protocol to keep everyone safe on campus.

Where to go: First sign in at the main office, and then come down and join us on the big, lower yard at Wildwood.

If it rains: We have contingencies for rain and will hold classes indoors if needed.

Can siblings come? Sorry, we are not able to accommodate siblings for this event.

Can Grandparents come? Yes!

Hope To See You There!

Prepare for Wildwood’s Fall Book Fair!

The 2025 Wildwood Book Fair kicks off on October 20th! Remember that 50% of all sales goes back to

support the Wildwood library!

Monday October 20 3-5 PM

Tuesday October 21 3-4:30 PM

Wednesday October 22 5:30-7:30 PM –with Mister Softee Truck and

Read-Aloud with Ms. Ludmer!

Thursday October 23 3-4:30 PM

Friday October 24 3-4:30 PM

1. Sign up to Volunteer! We need help setting up the actual fair, operating the register during book fair hours, and packing up at the end. We rely heavily on volunteers to make this happen, so please sign up if you can! Sign up here.

2. Remember our teachers: At the fair, there will be each teacher’s wish list set out. While you’re at the fair picking out books for your child, please purchase a book from your teacher’s wish list! There will be labeled teachers’ bins to place the paid books inside.

3. eWallet: If you’d like to not worry about cash or credit cards at the fair, a great option is to set up an e- wallet online. You simply add funds and/or invite family to contribute. Grandparents love to donate towards books! This is a great option if you want your child to stop by the fair on their own after school. At the time of checkout, the eWallet account can be looked up on the register and used towards one’s purchase. Set it up through the book fair webpage.

4. Catch a "read aloud" with Ms. Ludmer on Wednesday 10/22 at 6:30 pm! Our Head Librarian, Ms. Ludmer, will be reading a lively piece for all to enjoy. The reading will most likely be outside in the courtyard so please dress accordingly! Cookies and milk will be passed around!

Stay updated through the Book Fair webpage.

Parents Club Update Parents Club Update

Piedmont Education Foundation’s (PEF) Giving Campaign launched last week, and we want to send a friendly reminder to all Wildwood families to please contribute!

PEF provides 7% of PUSD’s total budget; 94% of its funds raised go toward teacher salaries with the remainder going towards other school staff, supplies, training and curriculum.

Here is the simple math: It costs PUSD $23,613 to educate each child. The government funds $14,255 per child. Parcel taxes fund $7,021 per child. This leaves the district with a gap of $2,337 per student to fill in with donations, which is PEF’s requested donation per student.

The ask is to please consider donating to fill in the gap for your child/children, but any amount you can give is appreciated!

This year’s aim is to raise $5 million to celebrate PEF’s 50th anniversary, and more importantly, to reach 100% parent/caregiver participation (regardless of amount).

Check out PEF’s website and link to donate.

Each school’s participation will be tracked by grade. Let’s get Wildwood to 100% and support our teachers!

In further celebration of PEF, a big THANK YOU to those who put in time to build a scarecrow for the Harvest Festival, a PEF fundraiser for tri-schools. You all made Wildwood shine!

Lastly, it was fun to see so many at last week’s Community Coffee — thank you to WPC Belonging Committee members Naomi Handly and Roxanne Swasey for hosting!

PEF Presents $4.1 Million Check to PUSD and Launches The Giving Campaign

At the school board meeting on September 10, the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) proudly presented a giant check for $4,116,427 to PUSD. This record-breaking grant represents a year of dedicated fundraising and highlights the incredible support from our community.

94% of this grant directly funds the people who make Piedmont schools exceptional: our classroom teachers, librarians, paraeducators, classroom aides, intervention specialists, technology coordinators, counselors, nurses, psychologists, athletics staff, and special education professionals.

This year’s Giving Campaign launched on Tuesday. PEF encourages everyone to keep the momentum going at PiedmontEdFoundation.org/donate.
