The March 3, 2026 Newsletter
March 3, 2026
π Message from the Principal
Dear Janney Families,
Thank you to our LSAT members and staff for their thoughtful engagement in the SY 2026β2027 DCPS budget process. The proposed budget is promising and allows us to maintain a stable staffing model with strong instructional and social-emotional supports in place for our 720 and growing Janney Jaguars next year.
Now is the time to support our biggest community event of the year, Janney Auction 2026: Jaguars Beneath the Canopy. This is our largest fundraiser, and it directly supports the programs and experiences that help our students "feel loved, challenged, and prepared to thrive in life." The PTA fills critical funding gaps that sustain our strong school community. We encourage you to purchase tickets, donate, or participate in any way you can.
March is also Womenβs History Month, a time to celebrate the leadership and contributions of women past and present. Throughout the month, students will engage in learning that uplifts these voices and stories.
Finally, we are seeing higher levels of seasonal illness. Please help us keep our community healthy by reinforcing handwashing and keeping students home when they are not feeling well.
Thank you for your partnership!
Principal Singh
β Highlights of the Week
π Read-a-thon Update: Theyβre Reading, Now Letβs Rally Behind Them
Wow! Together weβve read 145,771 minutes! 440 students are logging their reading. Now is the time to get pledges so we can turn all that reading into support for Janney! Please take a few minutes to invite grandparents, family, and friends to pledge their support via text or email. They can also pledge directly on the Read-a-thon website:
https://readathon.janneyschool.org. Even a handful of small pledges can make a meaningful difference! We count on the funds raised by our Read-a-Thon to support classroom resources, partner teachers, enrichment programs, and community events that benefit every Janney student. This year, PTA funding also helped launch our new literacy program, Arts & Letters.

πΎ Janney+ Executive Director Search Open
Janney+ is excited to share that the search for our next Executive Director is officially underway. We are partnered with LeaderFit, an executive search firm, to support a thoughtful and inclusive search process as we look toward the next chapter of the organization. We are seeking a collaborative, community-centered leader with experience in nonprofit educational programs who is passionate about advancing high-quality programming, cultivating a strong staff culture, and fostering meaningful partnerships with families and the school community.
We welcome Janney+ community and beyond to consider applying or sharing this opportunity with qualified candidates who may be a strong fit. We welcome candidates with relevant leadership experience who are excited to support the Janney+ community and its continued growth.
The Executive Director plays a vital role in advancing Janney+βs mission by overseeing programs, supporting staff development, partnering closely with the Board and school leadership, and ensuring high-quality experiences for the more than 600 students and families we serve each year.
