From the Parent Coordinator
Good day, Falcon Family.
Its hard to believe that we are already planning our February events. We are excited to offer Free English classes for the parents and guardians of PS 199 students. This is a collaboration with We Speak NYC, the city's free English language learning program, developed by the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. The dates and time is listed above.
The NYC Annual School Survey opens on Monday, February 10, 2025. This is the time of year , when we attempt to capture the voices of our community through the use of the survey. We need to hear from you what's working and what is not. What can we do better and what we are exceling at.
Please participate in this yearly event, by simply logging into your NYCSA account and completing your survey online. If you haven't created your NYCSA account, you can still complete the survey by going to nycschoolsurvey.org and entering a lowercase "f" and your child OSIS or identification number as your access code. We thank you for your feedback and support.
Beginning February 1, 2025, we will sell ice cream and ices in the cafeteria at lunchtime. They will cost $1.00 each and students will be able to purchase once they've completed their lunch. This will be our school's fundraiser for the year.
Ms. Stacey Becco

Message from Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos
Make Your Voice Heard: Run for Your CEC
Dear Families and Colleagues,
Every two years, our school system holds elections to fill hundreds of critical roles on our Citywide and Community Education Councils. The parents and family members who serve on these councils (known as CECs) shape our school communities in countless ways—relaying parents’ feedback to our Family and Community Empowerment (FACE) team, participating in the hiring of superintendents and parent coordinators, approving school zoning lines, and so much more.
Visit schools.nyc.gov/Elections2025 to learn about CECs—both how to run and how to get involved this election season. Candidates will campaign from late February through April, and voting will take place from late April through mid-May.
Parents: I hope to see your names on the ballot. Your voice matters!
In partnership,
Melissa Aviles-Ramos
Chancellor
